Introduction! With the invention of vehicles that can travel at speeds that would have been near impossible for humans earlier on, there are precautions that are needed to be taken to make sure that these vehicles would not cause the death of thousands of drivers and pedestrians. Travelling at high speeds and if a sudden stop were to occur it would be painful if not deadly as the inertia of out body will make it so that our body will continue at the speed of the vehicle for a time until we either are stopped by an object directly connect to the now still vehicle or we were decelerate to the point where we stop which could lead to fatal injury. The seatbelt is an invention that was designed to be the object that is directly connected to the vehicle in an attempt to make injuries from the vehicle less deadly.! ! Newton’s First Law! Newton’s first law is about how an object that is at rest or moving at a constant speed will continue in that fashion unless an uneven force is applied to it. If a vehicle is traveling but then were to suddenly stop would cause a devastating amount of force on the mass of the object in a small amount of time causing certain death. The seatbelt attempts to increase the time that it takes for the mass to come to a stop and hopefully saving it.! ! How it works! The seatbelt is a length of tough fabric that goes across the body from shoulder to hip or across the waist like a belt. The latter one is less effective as it simply holds the body in place and does not do much to stop the torso area. The first one allows the wearer to travel a short distance before the user is held back as the seatbelt becomes locked and is stopped from unraveling further. ! ! ! ! Inertia is the tendency of an object to keep moving even if the new force that is applied creates an equal or greater opposite force. This means that even if an object were to
