If all the damage humans have caused to nature was visible by the naked eye, how bad would it look? The reality is that one way or another people will continue to harm our ecosystem. This is why nature conservation is a good way to protect our surroundings on this earth. We all love having a house and using all the natural resources available to us. Nature conservation can have its disadvantages for us humans. First of all, with nature conservation we cannot use the natural resources for human benefits and needs from the areas being conserved. Canada, for example, has built its wealth by being “hewers of wood” and “drawers of water.” We are a resource-based economy which means a lot of logging, mining, extracting, etc. But if we were to conserve all that, we wouldn’t be as wealthy. Secondly, nature conservation encourages unlimited number of tourists into protected areas and it also encourages the construction of hotels and resorts. Lastly, it prevents our generation from using the space being conserved for development such as housing or even malls and such. While nature conservancy does have its unfavourable side for us, it does have its advantages. For instance, nature conservation increases ecotourism which provides a sustainable and environmentally friendly way to earn money for our country, instead of using natural resources to make the money needed. We can often learn a lot from these areas, gain potential, Dubon 2 and scientific research. What we learn could lead us to advances in medicine or technology. Also, nature conservancy helps us better protect natural species in the protected areas. It sensitizes the tourists and other people and creates awareness towards the environment.
