Learning style Learning styles are various approaches or ways of learning and it refer to the variations in our ability to accumulate as well as assimilate information ( Ldpride.net, 2008). Basically, our learning style is the method that best allows us to gather and use knowledge in a specific manner. Each individual may possess a combination of different learning styles or could possess a single style. In most cases, the characteristics of a learning style can even be observed at a relatively young age. Once we have identified our particular learning style we will be able to identify ways in which we can adapt the learning process and our studies to maximize our education. 1 My personal learning style Our learning style is the way we absorb and assimilate information. People have different learning styles depending on how their brains work during learning. Four different learning styles are identifiable among learners. I am a visual learner and visual learners are those who typically learn through what they are able to see with their own eyes (Fleming). Visual learning students like to keep an eye on the teacher by sitting in the front of the class and watching the lecture closely. Visual learners have a tendency to describe everything that they see in terms of appearances. These learners love visual aids such as photos, diagrams, maps and graphs. Visual learners frequently are good writers and will commonly perform quite well on written assignments ( Ldpride.net, 2008). 2 Techniques employed while learning Many people recognized that each person prefers different learning styles and techniques. As an independent learner I use to draw maps and diagrams when I was learning something. It helps me to understand easily and also to keep it in my memory for a long time.
