Stephanie Eshleman Mrs. Scherer English 102 3T The Infamous Deaths of Glory “She went down in all her glory,” is a common phrase heard when talking about the Titanic, and no, not the movie. The poem “Titanic” by David R. Slavitt tells the tale of this infamously famous ship as if it were some sort of fairy tale ending. Slavitt tries to soothe the harsh reality of the sinking by stating that “the cries on all sides must be a comfort” (13). To say that it is a comfort to die along with others is true, as many people want someone by their death beds, even third class steerage. However, in the anesthetic cold water the first class and some steerage were dying together (12).

/ For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night” (I.v.50-51) This shows his impulsiveness by not mentioning Rosaline at all and starting to fall in love with a girl he does not even know. Yet does he know she is a Capulet. Romeo’s action of falling in love leads to much grief of others. It leads to the deaths of Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, Mercutio, Paris, and Lady Montague. The fates and lives of these people, Romeo included, could have been spared if his tragic flaw had not taken over when
He wrote what he thought might make the book more entertaining to his audience while telling a true story, Much like the movie Titanic. That tells the tragic true story of how a great ship sunk, while also being told a fictitious story of a man and woman falling in love aboard the ship. The director of this movie added the romantic twist to draw in an audience, but while watching this movie the audience also learned about how the ship really sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic. In the same way Capote added little things to the characters and even added some scenes to thrill the reader a little more while still telling the truth. In Cold blood is a non-fiction novel that Capote composed after researching and gathering all the information he could.

We soon find out that Gatsby was very poor in his younger years, as that is the reason why Daisy left him and married Tom, a wealthier man. "He made us laugh hard, every time you saw him on television, movies, nightclubs, arenas, hospitals, homeless shelters, for our troops overseas and even in a dying girl's living room," Crystal said of Williams in a carefully measured tribute. "The brilliance was astounding. The relentless energy was kind of thrilling. I used to think if I could just put a saddle on him and stay on for eight seconds, I was going to do okay." "Well, as genius as he was onstage, he was the greatest friend you could ever imagine: supportive, protective, loving.
Relationships in Great Gatsby are not “loving”and tend to be more motivated by money than true love. Gatsby does love Daisy, but is in love with his dream version of Daisy from the first time they met. Daisy does not love Gatsby, but loves the material wealth that he provides. I chose to write my poem about love because in the novel love is always in the air and is very
