In this paper I will be discussing the growth of gaming in Mississippi. As well as how gaming history in Mississippi. I will also be discussing how gaming industry in Mississippi is growing today. I will talk about Mississippi casino’s back then and now. The last thing I will be discussing is how gaming in Mississippi has changed over the years. According to Nuwer, D.S. (2013), gaming in Mississippi started way back when Indians became more interested in gambling which started with stick ball, or ishtaboli which means “little brother of war.” This game was very competitive and combative. There would be two teams that would try to score by tossing a ball against the opposing team’s goal post (Nuwer, D.S. 2013). In this game certain sticks were used to fling the ball. This game is similar to a modern-day combination of football and lacrosse. However this sport did not call for helmets or padding. Just like today’s sporting bet wagers were placed on the outcome of the game. Wages back then would include all of the players’ possessions (Nuwer, D.S. 2013). According to Nuwer, D.S. (2013), as Europeans and Africans establish themselves in the Mississippi region gambling practice continued in different forms.
