He quite possibly embodied the greatest moment of courage by leading his nation peacefully and taking an opposing stand against government oppression. Gandhi uses irony to state that being victorious in war is not the path to happiness. “No country has ever become, or will ever become, happy through victory in war.” (Holt 220) In this quote Gandhi states that through peace, nations can solve their problems, not by going to war. The irony is that happiness is not found through the common belief that the victor in a war is the winner. Gandhi told his people no matter how badly they were attacked, never retaliate violently.
There is no glory, it is impossible that soldiers sacrificing themselves to attend the whole of war. Harrison despites in the novel that illustrate behavior, survival at any time, thoughts of the soldiers of others; make the reader consider deeply what the ideas the Harrison presents. There is no heroism in the war causing the soldiers have no stake to devote their life, even though they have no experiences to attack in the first bombarment. For axample, in chapter 2 the narrator sign ‘I can find nothing to appease my terror’. Even though the narrtor do not believe in God but also begins to pray”God-God-please.” The soldiers just crawl over in the trenches and finding the safe places even there is no place to avoid the bombarment.
[pic] By Lora Temyanko Millions of people are suffering out there in the war. With our policy of neutrality, we have no way of helping those in need, those is danger. All of our obstacles are becoming more and more distant, and we can finally join the war. We must join the war. It is quite obvious by now that Germany is not honoring our decision of being neutral.
But I’m brave, strong and fighting. Soon, very soon, the time will come when silence no longer will follow me but vanish. It won’t trick me since I know it is my worst enemy. And the only shadow following me will be my
America, and the protection of her people, was his sole force and motivation. He was not there to set Iraqi’s free, but to make sure the terrorists never made their way to American shores. The book is very informally written, which makes you feel like you’re truly hearing Kyle’s voice in the stories — almost as though you’re sitting with him in a room as he shares his experiences with you. And he shares very matter-of-factly. The best an account of war can hope to accomplish is to remind readers that you can’t ever really wrap your mind around what it’s like for those on the ground, because you can never know or really get it until you live it.
He realizes that there is no clear cut enemy in war: “the enemy is anybody who’s going to get you killed.” It occurs to Yossarian that if he is going to pursue his right to life, he will have to worry about Colonel Cathcart trying to kill him as well as the Germans. However, a soldier should not have to be alarmed that his allies are trying to organize his demise. The fact that he is apprehensive serves to expose the flaws in the concept of war we currently hold. Had Snowden’s death not occurred, Yossarain may never come to this
It's mine. I'm just so angry and sad, all these different emotions running through me all day long. I can't handle it no more. It's all my fault, I do admit it. That moment that Tom Robinson stepped out of that court room and being granted guilty for abusing me, is the day that I knew I would never be the same.
Rochester. Even though gothic elements would not stand our right away by reading this ending, I definitely want to show how I used them. One of the gothic elements I have used is the women in distress. Jane seemed to be lonely when Edward died and even terrified as of what could happen next in her life. She knew that her children will soon leave and have their time in life and spend less and less time with her and that she would just simply stay inside and be alone.
It was one of the most heart breaking decisions I ever had to make but I could see the pain that old dog was going through and I couldn’t stand to see him hurting anymore. Carlson promised me he would try his best not make it painful for Scruffy but I was too upset to say anything. He led him out of the bunkhouse and I just had to lie down. It tore me apart having to see him leave and know that was the last time I would ever see him. The guys tried to distract me from the situation but it was all I could think about.
