The next discussion involved civil disobedience and we found that we agreed that civil disobedience has been helpful historically to help change the laws and improve our society. However, the general consensus on civil disobedience was also that the acts of disobedience must be done in a peaceful manner for the acts to be effective. As a government that provides the natural freedoms of man to its citizens, it should do all it can to protect its citizens who are threatened. The natural rights of man are a code. If you break the code and abuse your fellow man, you have lost your privileges to these rights. As citizens of a government that keeps us safe, it is not our business to know what steps the government takes to protect us. We are to keep the peace among the nations of the earth because that is our belief as a people, but we must know our enemy, we must know their intentions and what they wish to carry out.
They are rules of conduct we DECIDE to live by. They aren't the rules we have to live by but the ones we decide to live by. They are moral rules. For instance, the law says if you steal from you company you will go to jail. So you have to live by that.
For example if a doctor is of the Jehovah witness belief and they have a bleeding patient they may not believe it is right to give them a blood transfusion but as the patient may not share that belief and it is in the patients best interest the doctor should perform the transfusion regardless of his own beliefs.
