MY OPINION OF LAW AND ETHICS Ethics to me is the difference between right and wrong within yourself. For example your company does not allow you to accept gifts from companies they do business with. You contemplate on taking that gift but you know it’s not right. If you are struggling with the decision, have a bad feeling about it then its' most likely an ethical issue. Law is a set of rules that everyone has to follow. These rules are made to keep order in the Community and between the people. Laws are enforced by local police officers and court systems. If laws are not made and put in place then everyone would do what they wanted. This would cause chaos and I believe this would cause world war. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAW AND ETHICS Ethics is the moral code of right and wrong that is generally acceptable to yourself or your Community. Ethics are basically rules of good conduct and doing what you know is right. Not because you will get in trouble for not doing it, but because it is the right thing to do. Ethics do not carry any Punishment to anyone who violates it. Ethics comes from within a person’s moral values. For example, it is ethically correct for a Doctor to do his best to help you with your medical problem, but it's not a law that he has to. They have the ethical responsibility to take care of their patients to the best of their ability. LAW vs. ETHICS 3 Laws are rules developed by governments in order to keep balance in society and protect its citizens. Laws are enforced by governments to its people and are meant to regulate society (Weinstein, 2007). You must follow laws because you could get in trouble if you don't.
