Covering 7-8 meters in a stride, with only one foot touching the ground at a time, the cheetah can reach a speed of 110 km/h in seconds. This makes it the fastest land animal in the world. Its short course fur coat is usually tan or a tawny yellow with small, round, black spots. A female cheetah can range from 5 to 6 feet in length and a male cheetah can be from 6 to 7 feet in length. Their tail measures over half the length of the body.
The Arthropod I chose to research is Scorpions. Scorpions are a member of the Arachnida class. They are closely related to spiders, mites, and ticks which are multicellular, eukaryotes, have an exoskeleton made of chitin, and have jointed appendages. These insects have been around for hundreds of years. There are almost 2,000 scorpion species, but only 30 or 40 have strong enough poison to actually be able to kill a person.
Giraffes also have large hearts. Their hearts can be up to 2 feet long and weigh over 20 pounds. They need these large hearts to pump blood all the way up their long necks. Although giraffes look ungainly, they are actually fairly agile and can run as fast as 30 miles per hour. Giraffes will fight if they have to, but will usually just try to outrun a predator.
They stand about four feet tall and weigh seventy five to one hundred and forty pounds. The reason the Cheetah is so beloved, is its speed. Cheetah’s are the world’s fastest land animal and have the ability to go form zero to sixty miles an hour in three seconds. The also have the ability to change direction very quickly. They use both of these skills when it comes to catching their prey.
Pill bugs are about ¾ of an inch, dark black or brown, and have seven sets of jointed legs. Their bodies are divided into seven segments, one for each pair of legs. They have an exoskeleton, which means their vertebra is located on the outside of their body. 2 large antenna are located on its head, in between the eyes. These pests prefer to live in dark, wet places.
The sting of a moon jellyfish is harmless and has a very mild feeling. Moon jellyfish live in large groups and are most commonly found on the coasts of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. The largest type of jellyfish is the lion’s mane jellyfish, which also belongs to the class Scyphozoa. The lion’s mane’s tentacles can reach to a length of over 100 feet making it the longest animal in the world. It can also range from a few inches to eight feet in diameter.
Habitat: It is found throughout much of southern and east Africa like in a countries Ethiopia, Somalia to South Africa. This small, black-faced monkey is common in East Africa as it adapts easily to many environments. It is widely distributed and not found west of the Great Rift Valley or Luangwa River. The two have often been considered conspecific. The Vervet Monkey inhabits savana lands and mountains up to 4,000 m (13,100 ft).
Emperor Penguin, the warriors of nature are considered the most beautiful of all penguins, and are the largest of all penguins. The males and females are hard to distinguish as they are very similar in physical size. Adult Emperor Penguins can weigh from 50 to 100 pounds and be up to 48 inches tall. The back parts of the Emperor Penguins are black with a white front, they also feature bright splashes of yellow and orange on their breast region and their ears. Like all penguin species, emperor penguins have streamlined bodies to minimize drag while swimming, and wings that are more like stiff, flat flippers.
The scientific name for an eagle is Accipitridae. There are four basic types of eagles are Snake, Harpy, Booted, and Fish/Sea eagles. Baby eagles are known as eaglets. Also, the female eaglets are larger than the male eaglets. In total, there are about 74 different types of eagles in the world.
Plantigrade feet means both heel and toe make contact with the ground when walking in the manner similar to humans. Adult Pandas grow to be about 5-6 feet high. They will weigh up to 276 pounds and males weighing 10% to 20% more than females. Giant Pandas, with their short claws, are capable of climbing trees very easily and effortless. With few other enemies other than people, the lifespan of a wild panda is about 25 years or above The head of a Panda is very large and has developed special molars for chewing plants and other thinks they like to eat.
