Kronk found a plastic bag with duct tape wrapped around a skull of a child, in a wooded area less than a half mile away from her home. On December 12, 2008, skeletal remains were determined that is was Caylee Marie Anthony based on stands of hair found with the remains as well as the age of measurements. Alias Grace Based on a notorious double murder in Canada in the1840's, the novel Alias Grace tells the story of a pretty 16 year-old servant girl who conspired with a ranch hand to kill their employer and his mistress and escape with their belongings. They were captured in several days, and later, in a much-publicized trial, found guilty of premeditated murder. The young man, James McDermott, was sentenced to death, and the girl, Grace Marks, narrowly escaped it. Alias Grace begins after the murderess has served 8 years in prison. The death of Nancy Montgomery, Kinnear's housekeeper and mistress, has been disregarded as both villains had already been sentenced to death.
It took the maidservant some hours to finally call the police and wake up from shock. The blunt object or murder weapon was found to be a rare, sturdy, broken cane that was missing the other half. It was concluded that the other half must have been carried away by the murderer, Mr. Hyde. Later, when Mr. Utterson and the police conducted an investigation in Hyde’s apartment, they found the other half of the cane. The exact cane was given to Jekyll as a gift by Utterson, years ago.
Should cases be closed if evidence is found prior to the dismissal of a case? On December 25th, 1996, six year old JonBenet Ramsey was found dead in the basement of her Boulder, Colorado home. She was the daughter of John and Patricia Ramsey and a well known beauty pageant contestant across the United States. No one knew the reason for the murder. JonBenet’s parents were seen as suspects until authorities later found DNA belonging to a Caucasian male, clearing the parents from having anything to do with her murder.
She also states that people tend to form a collective mind, therefore they usually don’t do anything to help the person who is in trouble because they cannot think for themselves and they are waiting for somebody else’s action. I absolutely agree with the author because I had a similar experience in my life. Several years ago I got hit by the car of a drunk driver on a service road close to my home. There were a lot of neighbors around and nobody called for help or even helped me. Thanks God, my mother was with me at that moment, so she called 911.
Reflection Question # 7 1- Personally, I had never experience any kind of abuse or neglect in my house, however; I had seen some people abusing from their kids. One time I remember when I went to the store, and the little boy was crying because he wanted to buy a toy, his mom get very mad and she yelled to the child and slapped. 2- The only thing that I did when I looked at the lady by hitting the child was that I approached her and told her not beat his child because he does not understand, he is a child and he doesn’t know that there is no money to buy toys. I was very upset because I hate child abuse. I think that the outcome of this confrontation was that she understood that it is wrong to hit the child in public places.
Catherine (Kitty) Genovese was murdered on March 16, 1964 around 3:30 AM in Queens, New York. The stabbing of Kitty Genovese took place outside her apartment building in the course of a half hour. Winston Mosley stabbed her over 30 times, leaving her twice when “spooked” by neighbors, but coming back to “finish her off” when the lights in the apartment building went off. It was not a spectacular murder for Queens until the New York Times published the article, “37 Who Saw Murder Didn’t Call.” That article shocked many and helped make the case important to social psychology. The Kitty Genovese case was made into a popular case simply because the murder was witnessed by over 30 people and no one called the police to report what was happening.

The Lovely Bones is a tragic tale of how Susie Salmon and her family dealt with her rape and murder at the age of fourteen. The novel is riveting as it combines violence, love and mystery into one story of a broken family and their healing. The book was written by Alice Sebold who herself was raped during her college years. The story does not have your typical perfect ending but one as Weldon describes, one in which Susie has come to terms with her death. Susie was only fourteen when she was raped and killed by a man she knew.
