During the Industrial Revolution, boxing evolved into a favorite sport of the blue collar or working class. The early legends of American bareknuckel & Gloved boxing includes John L Sullivan, some claim he's the first great American sports idol. His boxing career was from 1877 to 1905, with that he was admitted to the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990 Another early American boxing legend is John Arthur Johnson. He was the first African American heavyweight champion. From 1908 to 1915 Johnson had over 44 Knockouts, and only lost 8 fights.
His grandfather, Ramiro Romo Sr. immigrated to America as an adolescent. (Flores, 2) Romo’s father was serving in the military in San Diego when he was born but the family moved back home to Burlington, Wisconsin when Antonio was 2 years old. Recently, Tony Romo has been getting credit for being one of the premier quarterbacks in the NFL with a very bright future. I don’t believe Tony Romo has the talent to be a star quarterback. I think that his good start has been a fluke and that he will soon drop off to the poor talent level that he’s played at his entire life.
Sherman Alexie has brought himself into his writing by including some of his personal experience in this young adult novel. In the novel, a underlining plot in the story is Junior’s run through his freshman basketball season on the Varsity team at Reardan High School. He makes varsity after an intense battle with the teams best player, Roger. Even though he is the best shooter on the team, Junior felt he wouldn’t get a lot of playing time, which at first he doesn’t, but then he becomes the teams spark plug, their 6th man, averaging 12 points off the bench. When came time to play his former school, Wellpinit, he started his first game.

The movie shows ‘rags to riches’ story of Braddock. In the movie, James J. Braddock, a professional boxer and light heavyweight contender, is shown economically stable and prosperous before the Great Depression. He lost all his prosperity when he fractured his stronger right hand while vying for heavyweight championship. When the injured Braddock couldn’t get a comeback from his injury, he was eventually fired and was compelled to live in a critical condition with no money and job to support his family. After great determination and hard work, he is able to pull off a major comeback in his career.

Armstrong was a child athlete, an Iron Kids Triathlon winner at the young age of 13 as well as national triathlon champion in 1989 and 1990. Winning the Tour de France seven consecutive times was no easy feat, he was a champion, a legend. Sponsors such as Nike, RadioShack, Anheuser-Busch and Oakley believed in him and made him wealthy. He faced many critics throughout his victory years, and continuously denied every allegation of cheating by doping.

The seventh child of Henry and Emma Alexander Owens was named James Cleveland when he was born in Alabama on September 12, 1913. "J.C.", as he was called, was nine when the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where his new schoolteacher gave him the name that was to become known around the world. The teacher was told "J.C." when she asked his name to enter in her roll book, but she thought he said "Jesse".
He started writing lyrics in his High School where he also performed at concerts, the concert led to him being signend with Atron Gregory who set him up as a roadie and backup dancer with the young rap group Digital Underground in 1990. Soon people saw his talent and Tupac started rapping on features but his first Solo Album 2Pacalypse did not went well at all. In 1993 him and his friends, including Big Syke formed the group "Thug Life". The group released their only album Thug Life: Volume 1 which went gold and Tupac became known as one of the best rappers in the game. Shakur was also part in the East Coast – West Coast hip hop rivalry in the early 90's where he got involved after the 1994 shooting.
