IIMMIGRATION IN AMERICA Immigration in America Kathy Gibbs Dr. Dixie Button Economics of Social Issues ECO 405 February 4, 2013 Immigration in America After the terrorist attack to the World Trade Center in New York last September 11, 2001, the whole world was shaken especially the American people. It was an attack that devastated the heart of America. It was an attack that no American expected. Such attack made the world freeze in agony. It was so devastating that killed the lives of about 1, 200 people and destroyed properties. Migration in the US is very rich. People from other countries go and look for fortune in the U.S.A. The Obama administration and Congress are gearing up to fix our nation’s deeply flawed immigration system. The fight over immigration reform will revolve not simply around the question of what to do with the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the country, but how to resolve their status. In the past few months, a number of well known senators such as Marco Rubio (R-FL), Jon Kyl (R-AZ), and Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) have proposed the idea of offering permanent legal status for illegal immigrants living in the country instead of a path to citizenship as a solution. Federal government does not deploy the military along the borders as well as a navy and air force to keep out people who can’t seem to cross the border through established ports and gateways.
