What I want to get rid of in the 21st century to improve life? Stop killing yourselves, because we love you. It seems that barely a day goes by without a newspaper article or a television programme telling about the growing problem of young people using drugs or about a teenager who has died after taking drugs in a club. Sometimes, it may feel as if it’s one of the most important topics in the media today. So, we have to be aware and stay away from drugs. Much of what we hear about drugs actually comes from those who selling them. Reformed drug dealers have confessed they would have said anything to get others to buy drugs. Don’t be fooled. We need facts to avoid becoming hooked on drugs and to help your friends stay off them. Sooner or later if (it hasn’t already happened) you or someone close to you will be offered drugs. The decision of whether or not use them could drastically affect our lives. Any addict will tell us they never expected a drug to take control of their life or maybe they started with ‘just pot’ and that it was ‘just something to do’ with their friends. They thought they could handle it and when they found out that they couldn’t, it was too late. I want people to extricate drugs because they destroy lives and create felons. This is one of the main reasons why I want to get rid of these drugs. The reality of drugs hits after the high. It contains powerful negative effects on our brain and heart. Even occasional users run the risk of sudden death with drug use. A guy named John said that ‘My goal in life wasn’t living ……. It was getting high. Over the years, I turned to cocaine and marijuana which are illegal drugs under a false belief it would allow me to escape my problems. It just made things worse. I kept saying to myself, I am going to stop permanently after using one last time. It never happened.’ All I can think about while I am
