Either way, postmodernists would argue that these people are not going to church to form a community or to help others, but for pure individual gain only. For example, they take what they can from religion without giving anything back. Also, as far as being temporary is concerned, though churches and religions are centuries and even thousands of years old, postmodernists would look at their followers today who are often introduced to religion through primary socialisation but turn away from it as they age before turning back to religion as they near death. Therefore it could be said that support for religion today is temporary rather than permanent because most people today do not constantly follow a religion. Secondly, a postmodern world has no objective truth or knowledge because it argues that the world is so unstable because every individual attaches different meanings to different things and so society fails to exist and so progress cannot be made.
Some people made pilgrimages with the belief that by just visiting a relic, shrine, or famous battleground, some of the holiness or cleansing would be removed by rubbing. Some other believed that they would find cure from their illnesses, or personal peace and comfort. Some went to a shrine for thanksgiving or to make amends. And also some others had to make pilgrimage as it is imposed by a member of the clergy, in order to be punished for a penitent. As it is clearly understood, a pilgrimage is not always a religious voyage only to be forgiven, or to worship God as it is sometimes not actually a religious journey, but a spiritual, an abstract journey of mind, and sometimes an exile.
Pride vs. Wealth As Latter Day Saints we are told that we should look to the Book of Mormon for answers to our prayers, for guidance during hard times, and as a guideline to follow as we try to live our lives. However, stories and teachings in the Book of Mormon are sometimes hard to understand and interpret. Take Alma 39:14 for example. It says “seek not after riches nor the vain things of the world.” Does this mean we shouldn’t try to get a good paying job that will allow us to live comfortably and with leftover money to spend on trips with our families, or to get a better car?
They aim at trying to reach inner peace, harmony, enlightenment, power or spiritual well being. Younger people especially in our society are encouraged to explore new ways of thinking and understanding which are outside traditional religion and it’s codes of behaviour as many feel disconnected and alienated from traditional religious traditions. Followers of the New Age religion generally practice astrology, fortune telling some even use tarot cards. Some have said that the reasons for the growth of the new age movement have included a disillusionment with traditional religion and its forms of worship and theology, frustration with the slowness of change in traditional religion a desire by many to seek personal fulfilment rather than identification with a group or a desire to find new
Due to a pick and mix society and the fact people are free to choose, they look for alternation, this may be because the church is seen to be out-dated, although many NAMs are very old such as tarot cards, or the church has been watered down due to fundamentalists. Change in societal values, It is no longer expected of people to join a church, many years ago people felt that joining a church would bring the society together, however this is no longer the case. Due to change in societal values people no longer feel the need to go to church to fit into society as there are plenty of other ways to do this. People are now looking for alternative ways to believe in something for example the Moonies, however, this is not always a good thing as it can fragment families. There is a change in social attitudes and there is also a decline in religion, this may be because of people lacking spiritual fulfilment and look for it somewhere else, or that they have enough spiritual fulfilment but want some material fulfilment so again look to
As long as there are people who practice a religion, then religion is not redundant, as it is in use, and therefore relevant to today. You might argue, however, that religion is for weak-minded people who do not want to think for themselves. There has been no proof, so there is no religion. Religion came about because of a fear of death, and what may happen to you. Scientifically, you may say that it is impossible for Jesus’ miracles to have occurred, and history is unclear around Jesus’ time.

6 11. Describe how Yoga is separate from religion? Yoga has no deity to worship. Yoga has no worship services to attend. Yoga has no rituals to perform.
It can be argued that cemeteries only serve society in a spiritual way. Some people refuse to donate their organs due to religious beliefs. They belief that if a person’s body is not intact, they will not be allowed into the after life. Having a designated and protected location to grieve is understandable; however it is something that could be easily replicated in a more efficient way. For example, memorials seem to be saved for tragedies and events of mass death.
There’s no rule, no unified concept and standard, of course no reference. Leaders will solely measure the situation base on their own judgments. They change their behaviors by experience, and personal way. The only one thing to consider is the effectiveness. There are no specific patterns, it doesn’t mean no reference.
