Behind the eyes of a dedicated band student, lays a fierce competitor from within. Eyes on the prize, that band student put in hours of constant rehearsing for one true goal…to excel in any opportunity given. However, there is one important lesson that the band student is taught that is useful for our lifetime goals; to always put one hundred percent in everything he/she does. An extracurricular activity is usually seen as just to keep the student busy. There’s more to it than it may seem. My lifelong dream career is to be an automotive engineer. Ever since I was a child, I would always look at the cars passing by in the street and guess what make or, if I felt lucky, guessed the model. I recall saying to my parents that I would even develop a car that would run on any renewable resource. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been fascinated by how the car came to be, the world’s number one choice of transportation. Thankfully, the extracurricular activities I am involved with has prepared me to try for the best of my abilities to accomplish my long term goals. Band, unlike many other activities, required a lot of sacrifice of personal time to rehearse for the main goal, which was first place at every competition. I have been involved with band for all four years of my high school career. I know that every soul that has been in band will take their experiences and apply them to reach their lifelong goals. Overall, being in an extracurricular activity has taught me how to be a dedicated student, worker, leader, or citizen of our country. There are so many unforgettable experiences that I will apply to all that I do and achieve. Extracurricular activities are an important factor for us to reach our goals.
