The costumes are shabby, especially in the obvious fake mustaches on the majority of male characters. This took my focus off of the plot and what I expect in a movie. In realizing how poorly it was made, I intended on looking more into the movie. I began looking for symbolism and underlying ideas behind the plot. The director also has some repetition in his work.
To someone who’s seen various horror movies, the haunting graphics in The Exorcist left an unforgettable image of evil and will remain a must see movie in my opinion. The Exorcist directed by William Friedkin, staring Linda Blair as Regan MacNeil delivered every possible aspect that makes a horror movie stand out. Throughout the movie, the young actor that played Regan did an excellent job in preforming the demonic head spinning, back bending character. Linda Blair’s performance made the graphics haunting and realistic. Along with Realistic acting and haunting graphics, the plot left the audience anticipating the worst.
But unexpectedly its ending is totally brutally violent and what we didn’t expect for a love and crime movie like Bonnie & Clyde. This is the same brutal violent unhappy ending of the Easy Rider. As we expected them to arrive together in their destination, but they could not because of their journey had to come on an end by both their death. 2. EDITING According to (Mast & Kawin; 1996, p.461) films of this period has to “…contain some seeds of the period’s values: the offbeat antihero protagonists; the sterile society that surrounds them; the explicit treatment of sexual conflicts and psychological problems; the slick but tawdry surfaces of contemporary reality; the mixing of the comic and the serious; the self-conscious use of special cinematic effects (slow motion, quick cutting, ironic juxtaposition of picture and sound, stylized memory and
Horror and Musik Music is one of the most important elements in Horror movies along with the acting and the pictures (scenes in the film). Music is as we know an important thing, and without music i think the world would be boring. The use of music in combination with vision is not only used in horror movies. Also on music scene the vision and what you see on stage is as impotent as the music. It could be the lighting on stage or the artist stage performance itself.
The film can be read as a dark, romantic fable for adults, another take on the disparity between the individual and society, on the unique nature of one single character and the horror of conformity. The Frankenstein story provides the model here. Edward Scissorhands takes up this tradition in so far as the creature becomes an object of sympathy and makes the world around him appear monstrous in comparison with his own innate goodness. ACTORS Starring | Johnny Depp Winona Ryder Dianne
A study of a film in relation to its genre focuses on the aspects that place this film in a particular genre and/or the contributions it brought to it. It also includes an analysis of the way these aspects act as an influence on the viewers emotions and responsiveness or as references to other films of the same genre. A study of Night of The Living Dead in relation to the horror genre would have to analyse how, thanks to its brilliant yet simple filming, created a stir in the film industry. In addition to analysing Night of The Living Dead’s contributions to the zombie subgenre and therefore establishing its resonance in the horror genre, many sources will be used to strengthen the arguments
It scares the viewer through the use of extremely intense acting and well thought dialogue. The two movies have a number of similarities in the plot. Both stories are possession stories of a young girl. They are both based, in some way, off of actual events. They are horror movies and both use limited special effects.
Also what made this movie very different from the other Saw movies is the focus on the detectives more than the original Saw characters. detective Mark Hoffman was in my opinion the star of the movie. Horror movies are a hobby to me, its just an enjoyable experience. One of the things I look in horror movies is the ratings. In my opinion the best horror movies are all rated R. For example, Halloween, Scream, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and so on.
Maqbool enters with a pistol, hesitates, and pulls the trigger, instantly killing Abbaji. It is important to note key cinematic elements such as the lack of dialogue, the use of lighting, music, and costume and set design. These elements, paired with the themes of violence, love, and tragedy, create a unique and transcending adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’. The first, more obvious element in this scene is the lack of dialogue throughout the entire murder sequence. This is compensated with the physical acting from both Nimmi and Maqbool, who share very distinct looks of fear and excitement as Maqbool enters the bedroom and attaches a silencer to his pistol.
Details such as “manacles and gyves” perfect his haunting guise because even chains cannot stop him from sin. However, Sir Simon’s physique is overshadowed by another “ghost” later on in the story. This Wilde describes this newcomer as “a horrible spectre… hideous laughter seemed to have writhed its features into an eternal grin… the mouth was a wide well of fire… with its right hand, it bore aloft a falchion of gleaming steel” (48). This other “ghost” turns out to be a fake but by depicting it as “horrible,” Wilde shows that even Sir Simon, who is suppose to be scaring others, dares not approach this unfamiliar figure. Furthermore, a sinister image is created for this ghost by drawing a contrast between his
