* Would you answer honestly if participating in a national crime survey asking about your criminal behavior, including any drinking and drug use? 1. I would have to say yes, I would answer every question honestly that I was being asked. * Why or why not? 2. Why would you want to be dishonest about what you have done; you would be lying to yourself as well as on the survey. If you were brave enough to be involved in criminal behavior including drugs or drinking at least be honest if they ask, you may still need help. When you apply for jobs you will have to answer question about criminal behavior. Drugs and drinking it does not mean you want get the job, but if you are dishonest they want hire you and if they do and then find out you have been dishonest then they can fire you. * Explain how honesty and dishonesty impact self-reports studies. 3. Self-reports helps to keep crime down if people are honest on them. Self-reports are used on offenders in and out of prison to find out their attitudes, values, beliefs, and psychological profiles. But since it has to be answered honestly criminal offenders and drug abusers, are not always known to be honest. “Self-report surveys can provide information on the personal characteristics of offenders (such as their attitudes, values, beliefs, and psychological profiles) that is unavailable from any other source. Yet, at their core, self-reports rely on the honesty of criminal offenders and drug abusers, a population not generally known for accuracy and integrity” (Siegel, 2011, p. 36). In my opinion if criminal offenders would be honest when in prison. I think it would help keep down a lot of fights, because then they would know more about where and who to place each offender with. The prisons would know what kind of programs an offender would need to enter into while incarcerated, and if the offender has not been
