Fame Can Be Destructive

Fame can be destructive Fame and fortune sometimes lead to self-destruction because famous people can basically do anything they want. The disadvantage is most of these rich people do not know how to handle it well. In return, this causes tragic events to happen. Take Anna Nicole Smith for example. She was found dead at age 39 in her hotel room and many speculated it was because of drug overdose. Maybe all she wanted was to grieve for the loss of her son. Another case is Heath Ledger, a promising Academy Award actor, died in a drug-related overdose. He was 28. In 2005, he was quoted telling the Glasgow Herald, “In a way I was spoon-fed a career. It was fully manufactured by a studio that believed it could put me on their posters and turn me into a product [...] I hadn’t figured out properly how to act, and all of a sudden I was being thrown into these lead roles.” And how about Kurt Cobain of the band Nirvana who died of heroin overdose and a shotgun wound on the head which was reported to be self-afflicted? Though many rumors theorize it was his wife, another troubled musician, Courtney Love who hired someone to kill her husband after rumors of the couple getting a divorce surfaced. Media, critics, and commoners may also be a couple of reasons why many celebrities who once treasured the limelight and the millions of fans and money go astray. Gossip tabloids in particular make numerous famous people grit their teeth and pull their hairs because of usual baseless gossips that ruin their reputation, get laughed at, and the constant bashing. Despite the intrigue and the popularity they gain from these, is the fame and fortune worth it? Recently, 27 year-old Amy Jade Winehouse was found dead in her London home. The police insist the cause is still unknown yet speculations have surrounded the issue that it most probably was because of drug overdose and alcohol abuse.
