Factors Affecting Demand A t innocent Drinks 1. One factor which may explain growth in demand for innocent smoothies over the period of 1997 to 2007 is advertising of the product for example as the company grew it put out more advertising which created better branding and product awareness which drives people to want to Purchase the drink leading to an increase in demand. Another factor that may explain the growth in demand for Innocents smoothies may be lack of competition. During the period of 1997 to 2007 Innocent Smoothies where the only product of there type meaning people had no other choice but Innocent. This means that as more people enter the market for smoothies demand would automatically increase for innocent as they where the only product to buy. 2. A factor, which may have led to decline in sales, may be a fall in income. 2008 saw huge economic decline and general hardship this caused consumer spending on such luxury products as smoothies to decline due to the fact of less disposable income was available as a result of fallen wages. This then causes the demand and sales to fall of smoothies. Another factor, which may have led to a decline in the sales of smoothies, may have been due to the new competition from Tropicana’s new range of fruit smoothies. The new range of fruit smoothies brought a new option to the market which had before not been there this hit Innocent smoothies sales hard as for the first time there was competition meaning a fall in demand then sales.
