Summary Michelle Bachmann, former Republican presidential candidate, was in an interview on CBS show “Face the Nation” and stated that the Tea Party has changed the Republican Party for the better. She believed that because of the Tea Party, the Republican Party was saved from inclining “further and further to the left,” towards redistributing wealth. She also displayed her support by stating how the Tea Party is sticking to its core principles and ideals. Earlier in the month, Bachmann stepped down from the presidential race due to low ratings. However, she still holds her support for a Republican candidate to win this year’s election. When I first read this article, I had doubts that Bachmann knew what she was talking about. That is because during her campaign, Bachmann had no idea of half of the things she was telling people, especially when attempting to bring down other candidates like Rick Perry by using false information that was disproved by organizations. However, in this interview, I do believe that the Tea Party did influence the Republicans in the government. If what Bachmann said about the Republicans going back to their basic values is true, then I believe that the Republicans became more conservative, and that is fine by me. I agree with most conservative ideas on abortion, the economy, education, and healthcare. However, I disapprove of their Homeland Security policies where profiling, majority Muslims, is necessary. On the topic about profiling, I find it suspicious that the Tea Party movement was not a thing before the 2008 elections. I highly disagree with that statement because Tea Party members are not allowed to have an allegiance with any political party in the government. This “oath” is clearly seen a void since there is clear evidence that the Tea Party favors the Republicans over the Democrats. Especially when Bachmann says that she will not endorse a candidate now, but instead will wait under the primary is won and will endorse that winner to fulfill her goal of stopping Obama, a Democrat, from winning his second
