Baby boomers are not content to leave the workforce because they've hit some predetermined magic age (Landau, 2010). Those of the baby boom generation are expected to change the path of their later years. Experts expect many to work as long as they are physically able and to transition, when possible, into jobs that offer self-fulfillment. “The implications of this coming trend are enormous, thanks to the generation's sheer size: By 2030, the number of adults 65 or older will skyrocket to 72 million, from just over 40 million this year” (Landau, 2010, p. 14). Post-retirement labor force re-entry is becoming a regularly occurring phenomenon.

As students we often hear phrases such as: “Education is the “number one” most important thing in your life.” We are often under great pressure from parents, teachers and even also from the government. In recent years, the Danish government has completed new initiatives, which benefit the smart and hard-working student. With grade bonuses for taking several high-level classes and another grade bonus for starting on a higher education within the first two years after graduating high school, the government puts a pressure on the students to educate fast and do it well. This is also the point President Barack Obama wants to make in his “Back to School Event” on Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. In this speech, he tells the students to take responsibility for their education, no matter which social background they have, to give all they can to acquire the necessary skills that can help developing the United States in the future, but does Obama manage to address this message in a way that fits his audience?
The college opportunities compared to the past 20 years have increased tremendously since online distance learning has become an important gateway for education, especially for those who don’t have the time and convenience to attend a traditional college. According to College board, “The typical bachelor’s degree recipient can expect to earn about 73 percent more over a 40-year working life than the typical high school graduate earns over the same time period “. It’s almost impossible to get job in an economy that is in recession without a college education. Employers are demanding more of job candidates than ever before. The college degree is becoming the new high school diploma, the new minimum requirement.

These costs are comprised of different criteria and would be benchmarked to include actual hours in the office; savings would be incurred with office space rental, office equipment, electricity, and space
According to Loveman, the company’s COO, Winn needed to focus her program on the high turnover the company had, which was “sky high”. Loveman pointed out that it was very important to make people stay with the company, since making customers happy was dependent on that: “I can’t’ deliver great customer service unless I have a stable workforce”. The overall program seemed to have worked. According to the article, the goal of lowering turnover was to be brought down from 45% to under 38.5% within one year.
