The homeless know how to take care of themselves as same as everyone but because of lacking supports and help such as money and a home from the government, they are unable to deal with their problems. One of many ways, the homeless people can feel better and safe is by getting help and support from their problems and show them things, for instance, getting a job. According to the article “No More Homeless In America: It Can Be Done, Here Is How”? the author agrees that “[People] can end homelessness by providing those who are without home with a home meaning a real home not a shelter.
The damages that a natural disaster causes can be physical, monetary, family structure, and mental injuries that will not leave with the natural disaster. They stay around leaving many individuals in need of multiple services. People are not prepared for the disaster so they will need to use crisis intervention models. One of the most important elements that is used today and will continue to get better is Psychological First Aid. There are quite a few volunteers who work along with professionals to aid and collaborate to the communities who are in need.
Unfortunately, because of such extreme poverty and no resources for food, the Batwa are disappearing. Those that have chosen to integrate into society are faced with constant discrimination and prejudice. “Batwa children say they dislike going to school because other children throw things at them and call them dogs” (Matthews, 2006, Para 12). The degrading has been so horrific that the Batwa people are ashamed of whom they are. We gave the kids there a sports camp, but in reality as I look back on it, they gave me a lot more than I realized at the time. I am saddened by what I saw. Years after Hurricane Katrina came through, the city was still devastated. Not just a few people were still hurting, entire neighborhoods were still in so much pain. What hurt me even more was seeing so many kids living in these horrible conditions.
For instant they couldn’t vote in their country. Black people were neglected by the police and didn’t have their support. They were victims of police brutality. Even though they had been through so much and they had suffered a lot. Black people in America had still hope for the future.
