1.0 INTRODUCTION In recent modern community development, there are a lot of new public facilities that provides to the public and consumer that can categorize under structure and infrastructure such as office buildings, roads, elevated highways, residential apartments, airports, trains, dams, ponds, systems for sanitary sewers and storm drainage to meet the needs of the community. Some of the existing facilities need to be upgrade in order to accommodate to the demand. Therefore, this kind of construction work required underground deep earthwork and dewatering of ground water works. 1.1 Groundwater Generally groundwater is water that is located below the earth’s surface and it can be found almost everywhere in the soil. The water table may be deep or shallow and may rise or fall depending on many factors. over the time processed, water from rains and rivers migrates through the ground and is stored in porous soils and rocks. 1.2 Groundwater in construction In construction, groundwater will directly impact from the design, the procedure and overall cost of the project but unexpected appearance of water table may caused delay and required of drastic redesign. 1.3 Dewatering…show more content…
Dewatering process is done by pumping and is usually done before excavation for foundation or building basement or to lower water table that might be cause problems during excavations. In construction site, this water should be removed to keep working area safe and dry to the workers. Normally, builders tend to use water pumps to dewater these areas, but if they are not paying attention to the place where water is discharged, erosion and other problems may occur. These activities must be done properly to avoid soil erosion on the construction site.
