Essay – “Billy Elliot” and “Call me Arnold” Life is hard, and goals can be hard to reach. It can be a long uphill battle, because of the adversity. I have chosen to work with the movie ”Billy Elliot” and the text ”Call me Arnold”, because both of the main characters had to fight for their dreams. But in the end, winning the battle makes it all worthwhile. The movie is about a young boy who is called Billy Elliot. He lives in Durham with his father who wants Billy to be a boxer, but Billy wants something else. Billy has a dream of being a ballet dancer, but it is not easy to live out your dream with all that adversity. As a twelve years old boy, Billy moves to London, to achieve his dream of being a ballet dancer, and he succeeds. The text is almost like an interview, but just without all the questions. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the best body-builder in the world and the most muscular man. He tells about his life, thoughts and most of all how to achieve your biggest dream – just like he did. I have chosen “Making something from nothing” as the focus in the two texts. With that sentence I mean, that both persons (Arnold Schwarzenegger and Billy Elliot) goes through a development: from being quite “normal” boys, to becoming idols. All that by living out their dreams, and achieve their goals. Billy became a ballet dancer, and Arnold is now the world best body-builder – just like they both wanted it and wished for. Both of the boys move to another place. Billy moves to London, and Arnold to America in 1968 when he was twenty-one years old. I think, that the reasons for that they move, is that they want to live in a bigger and more popular city/country. If you want to be seen and get famous, you cannot live in a little Austrian town, outside Graz (Like Arnold Schwarzenegger did before). But I do not think, that it was the only reason, for why they moved. In
