While the media has many positive influences there are still yet many negative behaviors exercised by many teenagers and young adults. Amongst these behaviors is the acceptance of how sex is ok amongst teenagers. The media has become a pool of promiscuity which has led to the spread of many STD’s including HIV and AIDS. This essay describes how the media has led to the rise in promiscuity and thus leading to the continuous growth of the HIV Pandemic giving other countries a reason to believe that the people in the United States have poor cultural values.
Advertisers use sex or sexual innuendoes in their ads to make a memorable impression on consumers. Unfortunately, many of those impressions are made on America’s children. Advertisers and marketers do not just create ads to promote their products; they also set a standard of what is attractive to the society. The public perceives sexuality as attractive and gives the attributions of an attractive person to advertisements with sexual images (Vega). Using sexuality to sell products has many ramifications to the companies and to the consumers themselves.

When you don't make as much money as your father, when you don't own your own home the way your parents did, your Dream begins to go the other way, you the native born American begin to wonder if the Dream was just an illusion.
The increased awareness of the effects of sexuality in early ages such as pregnancy and STD’s are more prevalent than in yester years. However, the increased stimuli of sexuality leads to more exploration of our younger generations to have sex earlier than they should be and producing babies at a younger age as well as they are contracting more STD’s. I think the media’s influence on our future generations needs to be tempered and that is the job of the parent or caregiver. I feel that if the caregiver or the parent has a better grip on what their children are watching on TV , you would find out that the sex would happened a lot less. It would not cure the issue at hand but it might help in the long run.
