Suddenly I was in a different world. The euphoric melodies of a nightingale filled my ears. Water seeped from the soils, forming a creek along the grass filled forest; schools of vibrant fish revealed themselves from the rocky crevices, darting about with unnatural vigour. An overwhelming feeling of joy swelled within me, the sublime beauty of this new world tapped into my soul, and the happiness I had been denied for so long came back to me. Hearing the sound of crashing waves in the distance, my childhood instincts took control of me.
“Of course, but make sure to stay with the sea nymphs.” I nodded my head in response and dashed out the door. I begin walking towards the shore while running my hands through the bright green grass. I notice the sea nymphs calling me over; however, there was a beautiful area of flowers that needed to be picked. I sprinted over to the flowers smiling at how gorgeous they were. “Oh my,” I said to myself, “they’re so beautiful and precious.”

The strategies used in this ad can be connected to same ideas Stuart Hirschberg talks about in his essay “The Rhetoric of Advertising”. The different kinds of women viewing this ad want to be a part of what is going on in the ad; the celebration full of unmarried, happy, beautiful women waiting to catch their future. This ad is presented with a crowd of young women lunging towards a falling bouquet of flowers. There are fourteen women in the image. Each one of them is dressed up for the wedding that they are a celebrating.
She deceives her readers in order to astonish them with the conclusion. The first paragraph states, “It was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full-summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green” (Jackson). Jackson tells of the friendly people and the playful children around town. This appealing first impression of the town interests readers and amplifies the horror of the ending. By connecting the character in her story to the readers, Jackson demonstrates the wickedness of
The song playing in the background over people having fun makes the audience believe they should jump on the “love train” and buy the product to indulge in a thriving social life and to have a good time. The advertisement shows the people with the product having a good time doing “American things” such as watching a NASCAR race or playing volleyball at the beach, cameos of farms in the Midwest to oil wells in Texas, and celebrities at a Hollywood premiere. It makes the person watching the advertisement feel like they are apart of this big diverse group that includes people from all over the country and from the range of middle class to Hollywood celebrity. All of these elements make for a successful commercial in the American
“She saw a dust-bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister-calyxes arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a marriage!”(10). This quote signifies Janie’s awakening as a spiritual and sexual being. Janie uses this scene that she witnessed at the age of sixteen to explain to herself what a marriage is. To Janie a marriage is about a mutual and reciprocal fulfillment that should be filled with love.
Pearl is drawn greatly toward the scarlet object, and the sunshine nearly loses hope, although protects Pearl in the end. For instance, while Hester and Pearl are walking towards the forest, she becomes attracted toward the sun and “Pearl set forth, at a great pace, and, as Hester smiled to perceive, did actually catch the sunshine, and stood laughing in the midst of it, all brightened by its splendor, and scintillating with the vivacity excited by rapid motion” (166). Since Pearl seems to be in a trance with the scarlet letter, the sunshine takes responsibility to draw her away to go and play. Hester seems to take notice, indicating this step toward getting Pearl away proves valuable. This suggests that Hester should have considered she would damage her life and those around her before committing a sin.
Myrtle wishes she was in the place of Daisy and wishes to escape to the ‘Egg’. She breaks down and cries when she finds out George borrowed the suit he wore to the wedding, which shows her wish to be married to a rich man. This is one of the reasons she has an affair with Tom Buchanan, the other being that she just wanted to have fun “ You can’t live for ever” is the way she puts it. Myrtle doesn’t treat George with any respect, when Tom is with them she is “walking through her husband as if he were a ghost”. She also states that she “made a mistake when she married him”.
Landing in Los Angeles they quickly deplaned and took a limousine to the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Greeted with chilled Champagne and chocolates on the table, she felt a joy in her heart. They had adjoining rooms with a living-room that connected them. She was so caught off guard when the phone rang, she heard William answer it with a bit of a whisper. She could him stating, “I am on my way, I will be right there.” She thought that appeared a little odd but dismissed it right away.
