There are many factors that can affect the way we speak such as: age, gender, familiarity, background, friendship groups and education. Another factor that can affect our language is the media. For example through T.V programmes and the internet many teenagers have picked up words such as ‘dude’, ‘OMG’ or ‘fail’ etc. By observing my language I realised that I have adopted these words and use them often in casual conversation. It has been especially noticed by my friends that I use the word ‘dude’ very frequently, this could be due to the fact that American phrases are being passed on more easily than before through the internet, making it easier for teenagers to pick up.
Since Standard English is usually time consuming to construct and difficult to use, people find it easier to use non-standard English, where the governing rules and grammar are more flexible making it efficient and easy to use. Non-standard English also complements and makes using technology less difficult and more efficient e.g. using numbers in a text “w8 4 me”. Using non-standard English also helps an individual represent and express one self-e.g. Lebanese people using words such as “cuz” for “cousin “ or Afghan origin people using the word “bachem” for brother in English.
Written communication This communication is also used very often in Llantarnam School. Written communication is when a personal communicates with other through letters, reports, and newsletters. This communication can be used to communicate a large quantity of people and it is the most convenient way to do so. Llantarnam School uses this communication to communicate with parents by sending them letter to tell them about their children’s behaviour or any school notice and it is a lot quicker than calling them one by one which is a lot faster, easier and cheaper too. In my opinion this communication is also very useful to an organisation but I don’t think that this is as good as verbal.
People will love you more and appreciate you more if you text faster like less than a minute or two depending on what they wrote in the text. First, people around the world have a phone. Phones are used for communication. Texting is the most useful thing people use than talking on the phone. They are some slow and fast texters.
The world is getting small because people have learned other cultures and languages. People are willing to share their culture. Now I can speak English, even not very well and few words in Cantonese, which is not my first language. Language is an interesting thing lets people understand each other and unite in
As well as there being changes for the English culture there was also a lot of continuity in their lifestyle such as the Anglo-Saxon style of long hair and bushy beards and moustaches. Changes were going to be inevitably made as their was a new leader of the land but there were still a lot of cultural and social policies which stuck and in reference to the question, this challenges whether there was a major change. A massive change that occurred was the expansion of cities such as London and this was due to French markets and the Norman building programme, by 1086 there was 100,000 burgesses in England and this signifies a major change during Williams kingship. Culturally, there was change and continuum as firstly there was a large number of castles built all around England and towns such as Oxford and Norwich suffered house clearing to allow room for the castles. There was also a continuity in culture though as there was a rich tradition of written English dating back to the 890’s and this survived through the Peterbrough book showing that not everything was changing during William’s reign.
* Routing number, Account number, check number Any questions? Conclusion: * Why it’s important (recap) * Hope this demonstrative speech was useful, thank you! Hi, my name is Tiffany Thomas and today I’m going to show you how to write a check. Writing a check is an important adult skill that everyone should know. Checks may be old-fashioned, but they are convenient and easy to use.
This along with slag has come into play in text messaging. The reason being is that it saves time and also easier then writing in formal English. It changes from two people just exchanging information into having an actual conversation as its makes it more interactive and immediate. For example people might write “wuu2” which means what are you up to and “btw” instead of by the way. The majority of people who write
Ever since I took classes where I learned about various countries and their cultures, it has always been my dream to be bilingual. In so many places around the world, children begin to learn English at a very young age. This has always been very important because the United States is a very powerful independent country, unlike many of the smaller countries with failing economies. This brings me to one of Gonzales’s main points, that immigrants don’t want to come to the United States, but have to for a better life. Many people think immigrants are willingly “taking over” the United States, but I agree with Gonzalez.
She states that there are millions of dollars spent each year to provide translators and translations to non-English speakers that can be saved if they were required to learn English. She claims that one of the most important aspects of assimilating to American culture is the speaking of English and it helps them in reaching the “American dream.” She states that even their board members are fluent in many other languages in an attempt to show how they willingly made a choice to learn instead of just relying on someone else. She claims that if it is not fixed numbers will continue to climb and taxpayer dollars will continue being used for something that should be known by an American citizen. She lastly states that there is nothing wrong with being multi-lingual but it is wrong to think you can move to this country and not learn English and at the tax payer expense survive by keeping your home
