However in order for social transformation to exist we must all develop a mentality/lifestyle that rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. Instead we as a nation should express love to one another. MLK wants to us to acknowledge the individuals (black) that has shaped our country in a positive way. The Negro made a huge difference to society, but instead are encountered with social disapproval and faced with man’s inhumane acts. He believes we should show appreciation for these people who have suffered for righteousness’ sake.
2. While there are many reasons to prevent slavery from being abolished, maintain the social order and economic gain are possibly two of the strongest reasons to keeping slavery. White Americans do not need any more competition in their lives, and with freed slaves this would create less jobs, money, or political strength within the colonies. Whites must keep their superiority in order to maintain status quo. Men are entitled to own slaves and this right has always been protected.
He states, “Mr. President and Directors, … I say that in no way have the value and manhood of the American Negro been more fittingly and generously recognized than by the managers of this magnificent Exposition.” This statement shows that Washington wants to begin civilized discourse about race and makes the audience feel that they are making the effort to create social progress. He continues by arguing that this social progress will bring “a new era of industrial progress,” which is exactly what wealthy landowners would want for the future. In addition to this, Washington shows that he is educated by speaking “proper” English, rather than a vernacular. These two factors combine to set the stage for Washington to make an argument that the audience will listen to.!
Overall, those are a couple of reasons why social equality was a major contributor to the radical revolutionary movement. Secondly, the American Revolution was not very radical because African Americans gained rights, but not all rights. As Thomas Jefferson said in Document B “All men are created equal.” This quote is true but also has some faults in it. One of the faults is that if everyone is created equal then anyone would be able to get a job regardless of the color of their skin.
Washington’s views on "racial progress" were that offered black acquiescence in disenfranchisement and social segregation if whites would back the idea of black progress in education, agriculture, and economics. Agriculture to Washington was one of the soul ideas of his "racial progress" theory. Washington argued that the focus of African-Americans should be education on a trade so that they could be taught the skills they needed to be able to open up their own businesses. That would lead to African-Americans to create jobs for other African-Americans. Washington felt blacks shouldn’t worry about winning civil rights, but rather have some kind of economic stability first.
In his opening statements, giving our oppressors divine characteristics is said of those blacks that use slavery as the reasoning behind their lack of responsibility; however, I cannot depart from the impression that Shannon feels slavery hasn't had little or any effect on the moral fiber of blacks. If at its best, members of the black race have been left with the side effects of this potent drug. I must concur with Shannon with regards to the declaration of self-esteem being more profound than clothing and image. Blacks must begin to use their past struggles as a source of strength and self-motivation to achieve. By doing so, they would've found a sense of victory and inspiration through failure and struggle.
Robert Staples and Roger Glegg have different views on is affirmative action necessary to achieve racial equality in the United States. Robert Staples explains on his side that YES affirmative action gives everyone an equal opportunity whether applying for college and employment. “Affirmative action programs were imitated to provide equal economic opportunities for minorities and women” as staples explains. Staples agree strongly that affirmative action will create an equal and fair amount of opportunities for everyone. Also by abolish affirmative action will help the whites gain control and have the economy be pushed towards slavery when people of color were servants again.
Well here is the answer, Mr.King was and still is to this day the changer of our worlds how people ask he did through verbal communication what is verbal communication it's talking and that's what Mr.King was great at some said he had crazy maybe even insane ideas about blacks and whites being friends and being equal well that didn't change his mottive not even a bit. Mr.King thought that no he didn't think he knew that all men were created equal and not differenly. He is a great man and derseves to be appeciated for doing what he has done. What would life be life if Mr. King was still alive? What would he say about
On the other hand, the anti-imperialists argued that it went against our American democracy and was harmful to the territories we were trying to acquire and our country itself. Even though they had a major difference, they had one similarity in that they both wanted the country to progress and become more successful through overseas expansion, just not using imperialismto justify it. Imperialist thought it was their duty to take over the smaller countries in order to save them from themselves because they were not fit for self government. Behind the imperialists were a plethora of people and they all supported it for multiple reasons. Blacks at the time liked the idea because it gave them an opportunity to serve their country and have perfect unity with the whites as well as patriotic unity for themselves (doc1).
It was reverend Martin Luther King and other great people like him in history, people with a desire for justice and equality, that eventually brought equality or at least reasonable equality in comparison to the inequalities that once existed in the United States of America. It is absolutely astounding that today the USA has a black president, this is a wonderful testament to those that sacrificed so much to see those of cultural and ethnic minority recognised as equal. It is not so much the battle for equality that is going to be examined in this essay however, a different view is going to be looked at, as every story has two sides it is important to look at the other side from time to time. This is not meant as from a point of pity, but more from a point of view that we can understand what happened and how it was allowed to develop into the complete degradation of a people based solely on their race and the exploitation of these people to the benefit of the few. In this essay we are going to summarise why the wealthy and powerful white Americans, those few that made so much from the oppression of the African Americans, required such in equality and why it was worth fighting for?
