How are the Birlings presented prior to the Inspectors entrance in ‘An Inspector Calls’? In the beginning of the play the Birlings are having a family dinner to celebrate the engagement of Sheila, Mr Birling’s daughter and Gerald Croft. The Birling Family come across as your average middle-class family; Mr Birling, a wealthy business man who owns a factory; his wife, Mrs. Birling who is a social climber and is very concerned about her appearance; Eric, Mr Birling’s son, who is quite uneasy; Sheila, Mr Birling’s daughter who is being engaged to Gerald and Gerald who is the son of one of Mr. Birling’s business rivals. Mr Birling is a self-made industrial businessman who shares capitalist values; you can tell this from some of the things he says. He is very business orientated as even when he is meant to be celebrating his daughter being engaged to her love he sees the benefits it will have for his business.
Chapter 1: West Egg is home to the nouveau riche (those who have recently made money and lack an established social position) One night, he heads over to East Egg to have dinner with his cousin Daisy and her husband, Tom Buchanan, whom he went to college with. When Nick enters the house Daisy and friends of her, Jordan Baker, are lying on the sofa, they seem bored… However at Nick’s sight, Daisy stands up and starts talking with her cousin. While drinking cocktails, Nick mentions Gatsby and daisy gets unusually interested. At dinner, Tom is the one who speaks the most, who dominates the conversation.
However as he works with the patients, he develops a new perspective and insight into certain matters and himself. When Nick and Lucy denounce him for doing a play about love, by declaring that ‘only mad people in this day and age would do a work about love and infidelity’, Lewis is able to realise that love and friendship is more important than politics. He learns about the importance of friendship, clearly evident, that he attends the moratorium, helping the patients prepare for their performance with an additional rehearsal. Lewis also finds strength later in the play, which he was devoid of to begin with . At the start, he is overwhelmed by the patients such as Cherry, Doug and Roy by their 'crazy' behaviour.
Ethics In Action II Lateshia Rogers Liberty University Segment One: The Divorce 1. If this was my client I would ask her to talk about the history of her relationship with her husband. I would ask her to take me on the journey of the relationship from when they met to the present. The goal is to get the client, as she talks, to reflect on happier times; pinpoint when things started to go downhill; and reflect on her own behaviors and attitudes that may have led to conflictual situations wihout me, as the counselor, saying anything as I do not want to cause the client to get defensive, feel as though I am taking her husband’s side or blaming her for any of the marital issues. It is my opinion and experience that many times when individuals are given the opportunity talk clamly to someone is actively listening, they have the ability to think rationally about their decisions, actions, etc.

To do this the term representation will be investigated to understand its full meaning. This essay will focus mainly on the feminist attitudes towards the gender representations.
