Definition of Integrity

According to Webster's Dictionary the definition of integrity is, "a rigid adherence to a code of behavior." There are many ways to judge a person’s integrity. A person with integrity should possess the qualities of honesty, morality, and loyalty.
In the 1953 American playwright titled The Crucible, Elizabeth Proctor is an example of a person who has integrity. Elizabeth shows her morality when she would not persuade her husband to confess to the crime of witchcraft. She refuses because she believes that by following God’s moral code for Christians God will help her and her husband. Elizabeth's husband, John Procter also has integrity by refusing to confess to witchcraft. John Proctor won't confess to a crime he didn't commit even if confessing would save his life . This shows his morality. Also from the Crucible, the Deputy Governor Danforth is a good example of a person with no integrity because he has no loyalty towards himself or his beliefs. Danforth refused to pardon any of the accused because twelve people have already been hanged for the same crime and he doesn’t want to tarnish the court’s conviction record.
There are also many real world examples of people with integrity. For example the McMartin family; Ray Buckey, Virginia McMartin and Peggy McMartin Buckey, all of whom were put on trial for allegedly molesting children at a California preschool in the 1980’s. They were on trial from 1987 to 1990. During these six years no convictions were ever made and all charges against the Mc Martins were dropped in 1990. This family stuck together even as they are being accused of a horrible crime They also refused to confess because they believed that by following God’s moral code for Christians God will help them.
I also think of my father when I think of integrity. How my father always kept his word and followed through with a
