For many reasons, the South did not like what the constitution said. There were many conflicts with the compromise of 1850, map shown in (Document A) and the fugitive slave act. Certain northerners were so against slavery and the fugitive slave act that they even posted warnings for the slaves. Kidnappers were being sent after the slaves, and how Northern abolitionists were revolting against the South's rules and regulations this fugitive slave act also helped drive the tension deeper into the Un-United States. (Document C) A frees soiler did not want to spread slavery, but he is okay with keeping it in a state it is already in.
After Lincoln’s re-election in November 1864 Lincoln pressed for the Congressional approval for the measure (the “Thirteenth Amendment”) and it was passed on 31st January 1865. However the positive effects of slavery ending did not come without consequences. During that time period of Reconstruction, African Americans faced many hardships in the movement towards their own cultural rebuilding. Although it was good that slavery came to an end, it was also a bittersweet time. After the Civil War southern states entered into what it now known as the Reconstruction Era, in which they worked to return the Confederacy to the Union and rebuild the southern economy. With the ending of the Civil War the Thirteenth Amendment was passed, abolishing slavery and giving African Americans a chance to also rebuild their lives now as freedmen.

The Missouri Compromise was a deal stuck by both sides of Congress, at this time the clear distinction between North and South had not been so prevalent, but this issue about the expansion of slavery was making bold lines in the sand. Many died to hands of whites for their participation in these rebellions. Whites of the Southern states tried hard to keep slavery the way it was but with the steady growing number of free educated blacks in the Northern states grew the desire for slaves to obtain the same. In the North, blacks were able to obtain an education, work as well as own their own stores. Eventually, Abraham Lincoln got into office and many Southern Whites believed he sided on the abolishment of slavery so they made their states separate from that of the Northern portion of the United States. Lincoln supported the Union, which were the Northern States which held free blacks, and gave the Confederate States an ultimatum to join back with the Union or war will begin.
He was this image to a lot of people, especially those in the south that still strongly supported the Confederates. During this period of Reconstruction, America’s economy was not good, but at least on the rise. The costs of the Civil War left the American economy crippled. Families struggled to stay out of debt and find work, especially in the south. The politics during reconstruction were a sad joke.
John Brown and a group of men responded and killed some pro-slavery men (Dunne, J., Regan, P. (Eds. ), 2011). Real fighting and violence broke out between the North and the South. There were small armies traveling about and skirmishes being fought everywhere.
The original draft of The Declaration of Independence actually spoke of the cruelty of slavery. This is especially surprising since the writer was Thomas Jefferson, a Virginia slave owner. In the declaration draft Jefferson stated several grievances against King George, and included a passionate assault on slavery and the slave trade (Maier). Although finance played a significant role in the deterioration of the relationship between Crown and Parliament, it was not the lone reason, due to the fact that there were other more important factors including foreign policy and Buckingham which caused the collapse in the relationship between Crown and Parliament. Firstly, finance was a critical factor in the breakdown in the relationship. For example, the Forced Loan caused a great amount of tension between Crown and Parliament and therefore, worsened relations. It worsened relations because Charles enforced illegal taxations on his subjects without any form of consent from Parliament. He required that his subjects “loan him the equivalent of five subsidies” and although it was “opposed by significant numbers in the localities,” the taxation still occurred as the government had “employed all its powers to eliminate resistance”.
