Young football players who love the game of football and have NFL dreams, are getting cut short by injuries in high school. Most players who do have a brain disease they have C.T.E (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) Researchers found that college football players get injured more often than high school players, but high school athletes are more likely to end up severely injured. Based on almost 1,900 injury reports submitted to the RIO, the researcher’s estimate there were 517,726 football related injuries during the 2005-2006 season at the high school level across the United States. Some say football is safe to play at a young age, but in reality it’s not. Children under the age of 14 are mostly reckless and competitive so when you have them play football even the pros get hurt.
Most football players wont even realize when they have concussions. When a football player experiences a concussion they experience a temporary, trauma- induced an alteration in mental status (Tyler and Nelson 1). Also the player will hear a “bell-ringing” noise, which can cause lasting physical and mental injury, or even result in death (1). According to Tyler and Nelson, “Studies released by the American Academy of Neurology and the National Brain Injury Association indicate that 10% of college and 20% of high school football players receive brain injuries in any given season” (1). Many f these concussions are temporary, but if a player receives their first concussion are four times more likely to receive a second than someone who has never had one (1).
But if they do that, players and fans lose. It is estimated that a lockout would impact 150,000 jobs -- and cause more than $140 million in lost revenue in each and every NFL city -- some $4.5 billion across America. If there's a lockout, stadium employees will be jobless. Sports bars, police officers, restaurants, hotels and various support staff who work supporting the game also will be affected. NFL owners are demanding a number of outrageous wage-and-benefit concessions without justification.
In total, Washington's three flagship teams this season have a current combined record of 2-18 and have been out scored 800 to 327. It is currently not a good idea to have a football team anywhere near Seattle or in the State of Washington. The talent pool at Washington and Washington State is dreadful; the losses run up by the talent pool of the Seahawks are inexcusable. Excuses aside, Washington coach Tyrone Willingham, Washington State coach Paul Wulff and Seattle Seahawk coach Mike Holmgren are having terrible seasons. But what about the fans and supporters?
It is imperative that sports organizations, when hosting any school sponsored events, try to reduce the possibility of being held liable for injuries to participants by assessing possible risks and making the necessary adjustments. Various negligence cases have come about pertaining to injuries sustained during participation in sports. Pittman, Spengler and Young (2008) observed "sports are full of torts resulting in major concerns for recreation and sport managers at all levels and settings in of sport." Negligence, according to Nohr (2009), is defined as “conduct that falls below a reasonable standard, meaning the failure to exercise reasonable care that a reasonably prudent person would have exercised in the same or similar circumstances.” Negligent behaviors usually involves actions but Cotten and Wolohan (2013) adds that “negligence may be in the form of omission—something one should have done, but did not do; and commission—something that one did, but should not have done.” There are numerous ways in which organizations and their employees can be found liable if their
The NFL has seemed to push these problems “under the rug” for the past 10 years. It would be in the leagues best interest to suspend these players before the media finds out in order to maintain a positive public perception. At the same time this would keep the individuals who don’t deserve to play off of the field. Players in the NFL are more fortunate than most. Therefore when an incident such as domestic violence occurs, it is magnified.
Many attempts have been made but it is impossible to make this game safe despite rule changes recently added to the rule book, the newfound studies of concussions, and the improvement of equipment. NFL players Mike Mitchell and LaMarr Woodley believes that the nature of football has changed, and that people are more worried about getting hurt because of the aggressiveness. Mitchell perspective on this is that rules are changing the entire purpose of the game. "I signed up to play full speed, contact football. I feel like I gotta ask a guy 'hey are you ready for me to hit you right now?'
People may argue that some players perform better under pressure however anxiety causes stress and not only will the coach be upset if one player costs them a game, but the team will be frustrated as well. When someone signs up for a competitive sport (like football) they should realize beforehand that it will be a pretty cutthroat experience. In high school football you are competing against students for scholarships, star positions, and other highly sought after amenities. In the article There’s a Reason Why Your Kids Aren’t Playing – They’re Not Good Enough by: Bill Sepros, it states “Some kids just aren't good enough to play at any competitive level . This is not a moral judgment.

High school football players are influenced to do steroids so they may possibly earn college scholarships. The use of steroids in high school football is a problem that can be ended by drug screening, and also if coaches would care about their athletes. Young lives are even being lost because people are ignoring the
