CAVE OF LIGHT Siddha cave is one of the biggest cave in the Asia which is in bimalnagar, bandipur, tanahun, Nepal. The cave was discovered about 20 years ago by the local Durga bahadur thapa and four others. Lately, it has been pushed as a tourist attraction in order to draw foreign tourists. Since 2008, an annual five day long Siddha cave festival is organized to make the cave more popular. I was lucky enough to be in the famous cave through the 7 days programme under “Fresh Air Project” organized by Rotary Club of Yala. Under the fresh air project, the event was named “Training for Transformation” which intends to bring young boys and girls from the cities to bandipur, a well known Newari village. It undergoes a transformation while enjoying learning beyond the school curriculum. In the week, wide ranges of activities had been included like lecture and interaction on positive thinking, disaster preparedness and management, bio-diversity and climate change, hiking to Ramkot, Chhabdi Barahi temple, Thani mai temple and Siddha gufa. It had also included individual talent competition, different team building games and entertainment, yoga classes, cooking and washing and syndicate, etc. On the sixth day, we had planned to go to siddha cave, which is located just outside the hilltop Newari village of Bandipur, a short trek away. The cave is believed to be the longest cave in the south Asian region. The cave is about half an hour walk from Bimal bazaar of Tanahun district, along the Prithvi highway. The length of this cave is about 750 meters. The cave is like a big hall with enough oxygen inside. The temperature inside cave is cool during summer and warm during winter. We took around one hour to reach the Siddha cave. The entrance fee is Rs. 10 for Nepal’s and Rs. 50 for foreigners. Siddha cave features spectacular undulating limestone formation. On the gate of
