Canada is the country that everyone in the United States knows of its geological location since it borders the country, but not many now much of its history. Back in the 1930’s this country went through a financial crisis that we know of today as the Great Depression. This time after the Second World War brought a lot of differences to the way Canada ran. This caused a lot of corruption and confusion throughout this area but in the end it led to the Newfoundlanders to reach a responsible government around 1934. The country got back up on its feet with prosperity when the US military arrived in 1941 with their military. Before the Canada Act was put into place, Canada went through a lot of different state of governments. The Canada Act ended up being the last request from the government to amend the country’s constitution. There was very little opposition from the British government to passing the Act. Outlined in the Act was the end of the involvement with the United Kingdom involving any input with further amendments to the Canadian constitution. Even though the Canada Act received royal assent in 1982 it was not until the Queen arrived in Canada that the Constitution Act was proclaimed by the Queen in her presence in Canada. This act allowed Canada to have complete sovereignty as an independent country along with outlining the Queen’s role as a monarch of Canada. At the same time that these Acts’s were passed the Charter of Rights and Freedom was added in place to the previous Bill of Rights. There was a disaster to Canadian citizens following all of these government changes.
