Most of the girls thought fighting was silly. In class we were told during middle childhood friendships were gender-segregated. I noticed this in the film, boys were friends with boys and girls with girls. Although a few did claim they had a boyfriend or girlfriend. I also noticed some of the children had developed self-efficacy.
As you can see, the system needs to change because its not helping some women at all, its hurting them. Furthermore, I believe that some children are better off with there fathers. When non-custodial fathers are highly involved with their children’s learning, the children are more likely to get A's at all grade levels (2007 National Center for Education Statistics). Some mothers are to busy doing meaningless things, and are not worried about the well being of there children. Highly involved fathers also contribute to increased mental dexterity in children, increased empathy, less stereotyped sex role beliefs and greater self- control (Abramovitch, H. 1997.
Some parents ignore to teach their children when they were young. It cause many children don’t care their behavior and they will get the wrong worldview. I like this book because that is a good advice for children and parents, it can help parents teach their children keep a good behavior when they were young. How to listening to the other people, that is a serious problem for children, especially for parents. Now, more and more children don’t like to listen to the other people.
Michael Rucker sates in his article “9 Differenced Between the Male and Female Brain” that “Many men are sharply left-brain dominant, while women tend to be more evenly balanced between left and right-brain processing. Women are therefore thought to be slightly more intuitive, and sometimes better communicators. Men are often less socially adept, and are more task-oriented thinkers than females.” (Rucker). Young boys can be rough because of testosterone but they tend to overthink their actions and decide on the “‘fight or flight’” reaction and coming from someone who is young, I can vouch for this. Females, on the other hand, follow their gut feelings and their “female intuition” and employ the “‘tend or befriend’” strategy.
This entire story was sort of a coming of age story for Sammy, and a realization of his mistakes while admiring girls in the A&P, and acting as the adolescent he was, making irrational, and perhaps un-wise decisions too fast and without enough thought. Although his brain and the girl’s brains may not be quite as developed as the adults, they still share many of the same qualities, and perhaps if they really wanted to, make rational decisions as adults do. The adults on the other hand could also go “backwards” and make irrational and perhaps bad decisions as Sammy and the girls do. Throughout life this is seen, with almost every living thing, something like it was meant to be, and like most things in the world it can either be a wonderful thing, or a viscous sort of circle of bad things. Who knows, the world’s scientists might never know what goes on in a teenagers
Research has also shown heavy viewers, which is four or more hours a day, put in less effort at school, have poorer reading skills, play less friendly with friends, have fewer hobbies and activities, and are more likely to be overweight. The American Psychological Association says there are three major effects of watching violence in the media (ex: video games/television) children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others, children may be more fearful of the world around them, and children may be more likely to behave in aggressive or hurtful ways toward others. DOES VIOLENCE IN MEDIA AFFECT CHILDREN’S BEHAVIOR
For example, “The emotional responses of children who witness domestic violence may include fear, guilt, shame, sleep disturbances, sadness, depression, and anger (Domestic Violence Round Table, 2015).” It is evidently clear that children who come from abusive families may incur problems later in life as they establish and build personal and private relationships. For example, children that are exposed to their mother who is verbally, physically, or sexually abused may develop problematic relationships because of experienced aggression. This aggression may be taken out on peers, or even their own mother. When a child continuously is a witness in seeing their mother abused in any way, chances are they may display or express
Within these large groups, boys compete with each other in order to not feel of a lower position in the groups. Intimate conversation is a form of weakness for boys and men, just like how children feel looked down upon when their parents are talking to them. Men and women have different ways of listening and communicating. Some women feel like men sometimes do not listen to what they are saying. In fact, they are listening.
There are also a few reasons as to why boys don’t tend to do so well in education. One reason is the feminisation of education. Sewell argues that as primary schools are female dominated this puts boys off education as they see learning as being feminine. Another reason could be due to their poorer literacy skills. Parents tend to spend less time reading with their sons, and the mother is usually the reader which makes boys think that reading is feminine.
Some girls begin to lose their "voice" or "go underground" with their gifts and abilities as they absorb messages about what it means to be "feminine" in our culture. In response, girls tend to act in, which expresses itself in eating disorders, depression, teen pregnancy, and lowered academic achievement in core academic areas such as higher level math and science. On the other hand, adolescent boys, experiencing pressure to conform to "masculine" stereotypes, often "toughen up" and act aggressively in all facets of their lives. Boys receive messages that it is not all right to be nurturing and caring, to express their feelings. In response, boys tend to act out, which can express itself in disruptive or violent behavior.
