There are many different types of boats for different kinds of jobs and activities. Mainly there are four popular types of boats which include the flat bottom hull, vee bottom hull, round bottom hull, and the multi-hull. Each boat has pros and cons about it, and has many different traits. The first kind of boat is the flat bottom hull. There are 4 types of flat bottom hull boats which include a barge, bateau, flatboat, and the gondola. The flat bottom hull is used in shallow bodies of water, so it would not be good to use in the ocean or in deep water for any type of job or activity. This boat is generally used for fishing in bays or even in lakes. The broad bow area creates a rough ride on the boat for people, this happens because since the boat has a flat bottom it is easy for waves in waters to make the boat bounce. Another type of boat is the vee bottom hull, and this is the most common out of all the boats. This boat offers a good ride in rough waters. It has a “V” shape that extends to the back of the boat; it usually flattens out until it all but all disappears at the transom. The surface at the bottom of the boat is called the pad. The hull on the boat is the water tight body of the ship. The boat can be mounded, round, bilged, or soft chinned. The next type of boat is the round bottom hull. This boat is usually easier to maneuver at a slow speeds because it is larger then the other types of boats. It is usually used as a displacement hull. The boat is used for dinghies, tenders, and some car top boats. The round bottom hull has a wide stance and provides greater stability. Canoes and sailboats are some of the examples of round bottom hull boats. This boat is great for families because it’s large and is very slow. The last type of boat is the multi-hull; some examples include the pontoon boat, a catamaran and house boat. The wide stance provides good
