Utilities and food costs could run a bit higher because more people are in the home more often than families where both parents work. A bonus to having a stay at home parent is that there are relatively little or no costs associated with day care expenses. Overall, a family with two working parents will have a better financial situation than a single career family Another difference between a two career family and a one career family is the amount of involvement with their children. Two career families often have a difficult time finding opportunities to volunteer in schools or take their children special places during the week due to their work schedules. They are restricted by their employers on the amount of time that they can take off of work as well so they may have to rely on babysitters or family members to do
In non-farm families, typically the husband is the primary breadwinner, but in cases where a wife owns a business, she may provide most of the family income. When husbands work at home, there is often considerable cross-sharing of roles—women assisting in the barn or shop, and men in the garden or around the house. (Amish Studies, 2012) Amish family life can be difficult at times, but the one thing the Amish have is each
This does not mean that parents have no rights to what happens to their child while they are at school but this allows school to guide student behaviors though discipline. This idea is called in loco parentis (pg. 378). This concept was once more important in schools than it is now but it has brought forth it idea that no matter the student, disabled or not, there needs to be a certain level of responsibility put on all students for their behaviors when they are at school. This would be a great chapter of the book for parents to read because it would help them to understand why the school is doing what it is doing.
* Schools are more cost-effective per student by the efficient use of the facility, textbooks, and supplies. * Many students and teachers report that more frequent breaks allow them to return to school more refreshed and with greater energy and improved morale. * Some school districts report vandalism, discipline referrals and absenteeism for students, as well as teachers, has been reduced because of the year-round schedule. * How does a year round school work? * Students in a year-round school are divided into multiple tracks with each track having a different starting and ending date.
Agree with the question Paragraph 2 On one hand sociologists would agree that a pupil’s home situation is more important than the type of school they attend. Parents who get involved in the students education by showing an interest and helping with homework are more likely to encourage a child to do well at school. Parental influence can affect someone’s educational achievement as if a student’s parent hated school as a child and didn’t get the grades they needed, it can cause the student to act the same. On the other hand it could cause them to progress better in school as they will want to achieve more than their parents Marxists believe students who come from a working class background tend to do worse than students who come from a high class background; this could be because of material deprivation. This is a big influence on student’s educational achievement as they do not have enough money to buy the necessary equipment for school such as revision guides.
BSHS 345 January 26, 2015 Tawnie McMahan Reflective Paper Generational poverty is defined by a family that has been in poverty for over two generations. Poverty occurs when there is a large family; they usually have lots of children which takes more money to take care of the family but also more members to help take care of the adults who are aging. In generational poverty you don’t have things you have people. Education is one thing most kids in poverty do not finish. This is because sometimes the mothers need help to take care of the other children or even take care of household chores.
The introduction of contraception has led to couples having smaller families, therefore meaning that children now tend to receive more attention from their parents. Similarly, parents are also able to care for their children better due to the introduction of the welfare state and child benefits. Climbie’s case and ‘Every Child Matters’ has led to the improvement of social services and child protection, meaning childhood is much safer now than it was 50 years ago. Children are also in better health due to the NHS, meaning more children survive childhood now than ever before. All children can now receive state education up until the age of 18, meaning they are better educated and can achieve much higher in adulthood, whilst experiencing a longer period of youth.
Those parents have to stay vigorously involved in schooling their kids. Surely the obligation to ensure our nation’s future must be shared also by those who don’t have children in the public schools. Those people who should take an interest in the students that will eventually be stepping into the workforce. They should be developing work-study groups, internships and job placement banks that they can recruit and develop to be successful. Evidently, the tasks of educating our children nowadays are a lot more difficult than simple examinations and easy solutions.
Typically, the grandparents were only present sporadically and for special occasions. However, divorced parents who both go to work outside the home require help to care for their children. Many grandparents were needed to step in to help raise their grandchildren. More than any other time in history, these parents and grandparents could provide gifts and money to their children and grandchildren. Children became consumers much earlier, because of the growing number of single -family households.
She says that being in charge of consequences for anything from bad behavior to failing to finish chores is making sure that her kids are in control. I agree with this, because my parents control me for the same reasons. I think it is absolutely okay to think of not giving up parental control when it is required most of the time. She also thinks that making sure that the kids are slightly afraid of you as a parent and know the guidelines at home, the better they will think and act. Again that is how my parents worked with me when I was in Elementary School.
