I found out an article wrote by Joel Savage entitled Beauty Contest, is it all that necessary? She totally disagreed about organising a beauty contest and found that it was not necessary at all. She did not say that because she was envy or jealous upon seeing woman who had been crown as the most beautiful woman in the world but she concern about the women’s feeling about the title. She felt that some women who were born with physical illness or handicapped will feel depressed or rejected in the society when they watch “Beauty Contest” because they were not as beautiful or in other words as perfect as them. Joel Savage also said that “Beauty Contest” is meaningless. In my own opinion, I agree that “Beauty Contest is a waste of time and money”. Why do I say so? First, it is a waste of time because it takes a long period to set up the contest even at the local or the world stage. Let’s take “Miss World 2007” for example, it was held in Sanya, in southern Hainan of China on the 1st of December 2007. The preparation for the contest took about 5 months from preparing for the stage until bringing 150 contestants from all over the world to Sanya. 5 months was not a short period of time. According to Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia, A beauty contest or a beauty pageant is competition based largely though not always entirely, on the physical beauty of its contestants. I think beauty contest is more to call an event than a competition. There are women out there who are more beautiful than all the contestants in the beauty pageant yet they are not there. Furthermore, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and beauty is subjective. There is no ultimate beauty in this world. In addition to that, beauty contest does not help in any way other than a waste of time and money to promote
