The bible is a sacred text that can and has been utilized for the justification of so many different viewpoints within society. The reason that the bible can be used to offer validation for numerous issues is that the scriptures are ambiguous and vague. Passages in the bible do not provide a distinct way for how they should be interpreted and deciphered. Commonly, this ambiguity and indistinctness serves and leaves room for multiple interpretations of the same passages of scriptures. Some people place debate upon the fact that the bible should not be interpreted literally and that it should be looked at and analyzed as it is a form of literature.
With some many types of religions in our world it is so hard to list them all and tell people about each and everyone. The all have their own beliefs and traditions that they follow and celebrate certain events in their own unique way. Even the way that they pass down information from generation to generation is somewhat similar. It normally begins with storytelling, word of mouth or even reading about the religion and traditions in books. The many different types of religions have many different views on certain things like the afterlife, celebrations, prayers, and place of worship.
Most devout Christians would take offense if someone claimed that the story that proves their existence is in fact a myth. A myth is not just some story to the people, but rather a truth. They forget that a story can be false. According to the text Exploring Religion, “Myths are distinguishable from other forms of sacred stories in that they are more fabulous than realistic, more imaginative than factual, and more evocative than analytical” (Schmidt 185). Myths help us to make sense of things, and also give us purpose.
Every person will probably answer these questions different because of their religion or point of view on the situation. Does God really exist? In my first question I state that it all depends on the person and what they choose to believe. But I say that it all begins with faith. There is many stages to faith that are as followed Primal Faith, Projective Faith, Literal Faith, Conventional Faith, Reflexive Faith, Consolidative Faith and the last one is Universalizing Faith.
There are some that criticize the Biblical Christian worldview because they see Christianity as being mythical. As a Christian I was taught to walk by faith and not by sight. That concept is very difficult for some to grasp because if they cannot see, touch, or taste it then it doesn't exist. I feel having science along with the God's grace leading the way you have the best case
May 24, 2010 Different Cultures There are 195 countries in this world, and is impossible to actually know the number of cultures because, even in our own home there is a little of culture and beliefs. Culture are a set of ideas in a society that has its own beliefs, and ways of behaving. Two different cultures that have different aspects of life like beliefs, family life and language are Hispanics and Muslims. One major difference of these cultures is the religion. Usually Hispanics practice Christianity or Roman Catholic.
Elements of Religion Manuel A. Munoz Rel/133 March 6th 2013 Doctor Isaac Mwaze Elements of Religion Religion is a complex concept that is not easily explainable and in some circumstances, it is completely different when compared side by side to other belief systems. Huxley’s definition of religion “is a way of life founded upon the apprehension of sacredness in existence (as cited by Molloy & Hilgers, 2010). Most people do not bother to leave their comfort zone to experiment with religion and often assume all religions are the same. According to Molloy and Hilgers, “Traditionally religion is defined as a system of belief that involves worship of a God or gods, prayer, ritual, and a moral code.” The way each religion operates may vary and although some of the practices seem similar, each follows their own guidelines and the interpretation in their scriptures could be entirely
CHRISTIANITY VS. JUDAISM Christianity and Judaism are religions that are each very unique. Although they both have plenty of differences, they also have similarities. In fact they probably have more in common than some of the other major religions in the world, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam. Although both Christians and Jews believe God to be their creator and controller; Judaism has no founder, as opposed to Christianity whose founder was Jesus Christ. In Christianity it is believed that Jesus Christ was the savior to all humanity and was sent to Earth by his father (God) to pay for the sins of all mankind.
In America we are so diverse and we have a lot of different religions to choose from as well as some people who don’t believe in anything at all. I was raised in the church and have a deep relationship with God. State administrators are not permitted to encourage or discourage religion. Some people may find your beliefs offensive because it is not the same belief they have. Certain issues are more sensitive than others and the topic of religion is one of them.
The similarities and differences between Rastafarian culture and Buddhism culture Introduction Most cultures have different ways of expressing their love of god and, connection to god. "A society's culture, consists of whatever it is one has to know or believe in order to operate in a manner acceptable to its members"(Geertz 242). The list of differences between the cultures is endless.
