Marriage is the most important social institution, and it is a formality for the perpetuation of procreation; hence same sex marriage cannot meet this requirement. In other words, same sex marriage does not aid in procreation, which sustains our species. Same sex marriage will destroy our society. Some believe that although gay couples cannot produce children, they can have adopted children and fulfill a social need. That may seem like a good idea, but I am sure that there must be differences between a child who grows up in an environment with same sex couples than with regular heterosexual parents.
Following on from that, some people may argue that living with someone before marriage in a sexual relationship devalues it, because if the relationship is not fully committed and has troubles, it makes it easier to just walk away. It could cause people to become very relaxed with whom they pair up with, as they think that they can just get out of the relationship, easy peasy. But if they marry the person it is much harder to obtain a divorce. Another reason that co-habitation is popular is that many people do not believe in marriage. This could be for a number of reasons, such as high divorce rates.
In addition, religious marriages will not be affected since there will be no interference on the religious beliefs concerning the union of women and men. Rick also creates the controversy that, any marriage must have children. To him, couples without children are not complete. Thus, he not only infringes on the wishes of those who decide not to have children but also contradicts the beliefs of those who are unable to conceive. He insinuates that such couples have no other means
There are many different reasons why couples cohabit today. Moving in with your partner is the next logical step in a serious relationship for many people nowadays. For some couples, it is a pre-marital step. Most couples who cohabit would like to get married one day. On the other hand, there are couples who have no intention of getting married, but enjoy the benefits of living together.
Gay Marriage Amanda Tolland SOC: Introduction to ethics & Responsibility Instructor: Wolfe Brandon 01/02/2012 When two people any two people are in love, they should be able to openly express their love for each other by becoming married. However, not everyone is legally able to get married. A love shared by two people of the same sex cannot be binding because of petty laws that prohibit gay and lesbian couples to get married. Some may say Hester should have been smarter and less impulsive, she could have found the way to get information about her husband by contacting the right people. Although Hester could have been more concerned for her husband, she had no way to contact Chillingworth and she couldn’t do much since she didn’t have an address to send a letter to or to check personally. Marriages in this time period were mostly arranged because women could not work and they needed to be sustained economically by a man. This was the case for Hester Prynne and Chillingworth. Hester clearly stated she never loved him: “thou knowest that I was frank with thee.

If the majority of people vote against same sex marriage, then it shows that is not an important issue and future votes may not be called for due to the large number of people against it. Changing marriage laws in states is a tedious process, because if done to quickly, it can have such negative
Finally, Coontz brought forth if someone is not marrying for love but just for the status then what is the point of getting married. I do agree with her about this and also, the point about the media blowing the idea of happily ever after out of proportion by just believing that only true love will hold a marriage together that is false. True love can bring people together but would not keep them together, this is something that marriages cannot solely rely on it takes hard work and dedication to keep a marriage
The girl would have to face the harsh reality of society if she chooses to keep the child. The man would have left her and she would have to support a child on her own. She loves the man and choose not to keep the child because she feels then the man will love her. The man believes the abortion is the best thing for them and he reassures her that he already loves her, yet he pressures her into getting an abortion. An operation she clearly does not want.
