Academic Honesty Essay Cheating is is a way of acting dishonestly. It is using something that isn't yours and claiming it as if it were your effort. Copying from another student is considered cheating because it is not your work but the effort of someone else’s. Assignments are given to help you learn and and to assess what you have learned. They are given as an assessment of how week you can grasp ideas. Copying doesn't help. Copying is cheating because it is a form of plagiarism. The homework or assessment is not your work, but rather the work of another. By doing so you are acting dishonestly and therefore considered cheating. Submitting a computer generated document with little to no modifications is also considered cheating. This is ultimately also considered plagiarism. The definition of plagiarism, using the thoughts of another author without authorization, suggests that taking the work of another and claiming its yours is cheating. If you quote and cite the article, that isn't considered cheating. But taking it and claiming it as yours is plagiarism. This is why these examples of academic dishonest is considered cheating. Integrity is a large aspect at school. Integrity is the act of being honest. It is living up to moral principles. Taking responsibility for your actions and owning up to your mistakes are examples of how integrity would look like in a person. Acting honestly and standing up to principles show integrity in a person. Some other qualities also consist of not making excuses and skirt around an issue. It is to listen and follow through with your schools honor code. And it is not just about having integrity, but also reporting it when you see another academically dishonest. to make sure others around you are not cheating.
