There, Ashputtle asks the hazel tree for a dress, “to throw her down silver and gold”. (Grimm 630). The doves give her a dress laced with silver and gold. Ashputtle puts on the dress and she is off to the wedding at the castle. There she meets the prince and he does not let her go until she sneaks away.
They decided to get married after their “love fest” in the garden, and this is where their adventure began. The first archetype I have chosen for Romeo was a rebel. Romeo fits this archetype because he is inclined to resist authority and the authority that he is going against is his families’ laws. Romeo is courting Juliet discreetly behind their families back. Romeo is not supposed to have any dealings with her, yet he still fights for love.
The many suitors to Bianca persuade the money hungry Petruchio to woo Katherine. There is also the objective of Katherine’s dowry. Petruchio ties the knot with Katherine and takes her to his country house where he makes an attempt to tame her. He refuses her food, sleep, and new clothes, and, therefore by depriving her of all her necessities she becomes tame. Modified from William Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew, 10 Things I Hate About You begins with the new kid Cameron who has just arrived at Padua High.
In this story Panttaja says it is both mothers that are wicked. Panttaja states the real mother “plots and schemes, and she wins” (Panttaja 660) when it comes to fulfilling the wishes of Ashputtle. But actually the two mothers have the same goal in mind; to have their daughters married off and have a joyful life. To be able to do this, the real mother puts a charm on the prince to make him fall in love with Ashputtle instead of anyone else. The prince did not dance with anyone else all night and would always say “she is my partner” (Grimm 630).
Thesis: A Midsummer’s Night Dream by William Shakespeare explores the idea of love and how it causes one to make irrational decisions and prone to foolishness. In the play, love is caused by a magic love potion where the four Athenian youths, Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius, and Helena fall out in love with their courtship (Lysander and Demetrius fall out of love with Hermia and in love with Helena) and chase the wrong person around in the woods. Shakespeare may conclude that love is fickle and makes us suffer because of its strong power over us. I. Theseus, the king of Athens and Hippolyta, the Amazon Queen, serve as the ideal form of marriage as well as an example of traditional love. a.
Juliet shows her devotion to Romeo throughout the entire play. One example was when Juliet is confronted with her parents’ decision for her to marry Paris. She refuses to follow through with their command and says, “I will not marry yet; and, when I do, I swear, it shall be Romeo, whom you know I hate, Rather than Paris.” These lines are ironic because she has already married Romeo and she loves him with an undying burning passion. Furthermore, when she chose to take the very dangerous potion that would make her fall into a very deep sleep, she was taking a huge risk. She was taking a very high risk in taking the potion because Friar Lawrence did not even know if it would work and she herself questions if he wanted to poison her.
Romeo and Juliet LESSONS WITHIN THE PLAY Ryan Tomlinson Mrs. Bryans December 21, 2012 ENG2D Romeo and Juliet There are many lessons that are taught throughout Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet. There is one larger lesson that is taught in Romeo and Juliet, which is, not to act with haste. Both families, the Capulets and Montagues, had to confront the realities of what lesson they have brought upon themselves. These acts of haste are when Romeo and Juliet decide to get married, Romeo’s decision to get revenge on Tybalt, and the influences of supporting characters. Love will affect people in many ways and make them do crazy things.
After being teased mercilessly, Elsie concocted a plan to fool the adults. 'Elsie got tired of the joking and one night suggested to me that she would copy the dancing figures of fairies from one of my most precious possessions, my Princess Mary's Gift book... 'That will shake them!' she said. 'They'll have to stop making fun of us then.'' The next time that the two girls were teased by their parents, Elsie challenged her father, telling him that if he lent them his camera, a Midg quarter plate, the two girls would try to take a photograph of one of the fairies.
