Nurse Ratched, the authoritative figure who controls the ward, is believed to be providing help for mentally ill men. The tension begins when Randal P. McMurphy, a wrongly committed mental patient with a lust for life, is placed in a mental hospital in Oregon to avoid the physical labor of a prison farm. Immediately his presence begins to alter the environment of the mental ward. He brings with him amusement, disorder, and rebellion as he begins his quest to become the “Bull Goose Looney”. This then develops into a complicated battle between McMurphy and Nurse Ratched; McMurphy fighting for individual freedom, and the nurse fighting for confinement.
Analytical Essay of Rear Window Rear Window is a classic movie, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, about human curiosity, voyeurism and murder. The screenplay was written by John Michael Hayes and based on Cornell Woolrich’s short story, “It Had To Be Murder.” The movie tells the story about a magazine photographer named Jeff Jeffries, who while recuperating from a broken leg, was in a wheelchair and confined to his apartment. Feeling bored and caged in by the lack of anything interesting to do, and also feeling trapped by his supermodel girlfriend’s marriage proposal, Jeff sits next to his window every day and starts to spy on his neighbors in the other apartments. One night, he sees a woman having an argument with her husband. The next day, she disappears and Jeff notices that her husband is acting strange and suspicious.
As he is starting his process he neglects his family friends and any other social areas. Now since he has been lonely and avoiding people he decided to stay in his apartment and create a powerful experiment. Once he brought the monster to life he got very terrified and afraid of it. After going to sleep wishing the monster wasn’t there he woke up with its laying across its bed with a big smile on its face. Later that day victor left because he thought his apartment was hunted and ended up running into a old friend.
He initially chose Purdue as it was reputed to be one of the best wrestling schools around. This did not turn out well for him because he did not meet up the standards required by this institution. Dispirited with his failure he returned to his hometown and started working in a garage run by Stanley. Stanley saw Matt’s dismay and decided, along with Matt’s mom to mortgage their home in order to finance Matt’s education at R.I.T. With hesitancy, Matt accepted this new opportunity.
Lone Ranger, (Henry Ovalles) is a very picky man with deceiving looks. He has a tumor, but does not want anyone to know about it. Unlike Lone Ranger, (Macho Man) has too much stories to tell; he says that he slept on the wheel and bruised himself; he also makes a lot of noise and shares all his secrets to Lone Ranger. This is the excuse he gives to escape witnessing the birth of his baby daughter. Chaunice Chapman designed the set; it reflects hospitals during the late 90’s.
They tease and even taunt him because of his behavior, the way he portrays emotions, and the way he dresses with his glasses with no lenses. What they don’t realize is that Cole can see dead people. Cole does not feel he can trust anyone with his secret. Not even his own mother knows of his secret of being able to see the dead. He does not want to bother his mother with this because he fears she will think he is a freak and that he will need to be admitted to a hospital for treatment.
For example, Charlie begins to realize that the surgery that was given to him has a possibility of backfiring and the effects of that would be for him to return to his old state of mind. As a result, he decided that he wants to see his parents before time runs out. In addition, after having the surgery, his coworkers pulls a stunt on charlies drink and left him at the bar which humiliated charlie. Therefore, Charlie realizes that these people aren't really his friends. Finally, after his IQ starts to drop rapidly and he returns to the former Charlie, he starts to realize that Ms. Kinnian, fell in love with him.
As another example when Edward was trapped in Jim’s house he was trying really hard to open the door but it was impossible because of his “condition” , Burton also uses eye line match during this scene between his hands, the lock’s door and his face to highlight how different life is for Edward even in the smallest details. It makes the public support him and justifies his actions during and to the end of the movie. Tim Burton uses non-diegetic sounds to create mood and drive the audience between sadness and happiness, playing with its emotions. With non-diegetic sounds, we can understand better how character’s emotions and feeling change during the movie. At first Kim didn’t like Edward, but then she started to feel sympathy for him.
In the movie Captian Algren suffers from PTSD which is linked to his night terrors. He is traumatized by his involvement in the massacre of the Native Americans in the Indian Wars and because of that, he has a enormous hatred towards Colonel Bagley; the man who ordered the massacre. During the movie it’s obvious he regrets what he did. In the beginning he is offered a job to train soldiers and agrees solely for the payment. It is shown in the movie that he deals with his PTSD with alcohol to get rid of the memories.
The Sixth Sense “I see dead people,” is a quote spoken by many after the premiere of the movie, The Sixth Sense, in 1999. The Sixth Sense was a suspenseful thriller that kept its viewers’ attention from beginning to end. The main characters in the film are Bruce Willis who plays Dr. Malcolm Crowe and Haley Joel Osment who plays Cole Sear. Crowe plays a psychologist interested in providing treatment for 9 year old Cole Sear. Cole can hear and see dead people; however, they do not know they are dead.
