Good Morning class as you may already know of me and for those who don’t know me , today I will be presenting about smoking , Why people do it , What it does to your health and why we should prohibit it Why People Smoke First of all I would like to talk about "Why people smoke" , 1. Most people start smoking when they are in their teens and are addicted by the time they reach adulthood. Some have tried to quit but have returned to cigarettes because smoking is such a strong addiction. It is a habit that is very difficult to break. There are many different reasons why people smoke.
Other people chose to smoke because the people around them smoke, and the people whom are exposed to this behavior tend to follow the trends. Many people try to stay away from others that smoke for many reasons. First, is the fact that smoke makes your clothes smell and hands smell, and many other things on your body seem to smell after a smoking. Non- smokers have an issue with the people that smoke. Personally, I believe that people who smoke have every right to do what they want; just like the people who decide not to smoke.
However much of the damage is done to the health of smokers when they begin to use it as a substitute for depression, stress or even anxiety. There has been many interventions by local, national and international communities to warn the people about the dangers of smoking, the long term effect and health implications it has on the human body. The result of such interventions has highlighted that some decide to carry on smoking as a form of habit. Health promotional theories have identified that there are other more deep seated issues that influence the reason for a person to take up certain habits and are commonly stemmed from social, cultural, environmental, political and economic influences (Raingruber, Year). Hence careful attention must be taken when dealing with health promotion with any environment as not one size fits all.
While a cloud of smoke irritates non-smokers and makes it difficult to breathe that dense smoke, smokers feel jittery, anxious, and inconvenienced when they must go outside and distance themselves from public places. These common places are for people to socialize and to have a good time. The truth is everyone has encountered an uncomfortable situation like this before. Although many people may agree or disagree with the fact that smoking in public places is affecting everybody, it was happening until recently when the government banned smoking in public places, and this has created controversies between smokers and nonsmokers. Although smokers have needs, nonsmokers have a right to clean air and to a safe environment; including the fact that smoking is a huge risk for both smokers and nonsmokers, inconvenience, and a bad influence on younger generation.
For example, a cigarette smoker who believes that smoking is bad for his health has an opinion that is dissonant with the knowledge that he is continuing to smoke. He may have many other opinions, beliefs, or items of knowledge that are consonant with continuing to smoke but the dissonance nevertheless exists too. "Dissonance produces discomfort and, correspondingly, there will arise pressures to reduce or
A social illness is defined as when a member of society is not adequately socialized to adopt its norms and values. People who don’t care about values for themselves or their families aren’t going to care much for others. Social Disorganization- social problems change often with time, when norms become weak or are in conflict with each other, society is in a state of anomie, which means when norms and values are weak or unclear. This view believes social problems can be solved by slowing down the pace of social change and strengthening social norms. An example would be underage smoking, although hard to stop completely, we could make the laws much stronger with heavier fines for those buying or contributing to a minor.
Some people smoke and some people do not, each group defends their own values. People who smoke often think that it does no immediate harm so it is okay or they make up excuses such as, “It helps with stress.” There are many more disadvantages to smoking than advantages in my opinion. One such negative point would be the risk of one's own health. There would also be a risk to the health of others! Also, if a child grows up in a stressful environment wear adults smoke, they often start smoking at an early age themselves.
Smoking might be “relaxing” now, but it will mess with your body later. Smoking is a simple process of inhaling and exhaling the smoke of tobacco, but it has deadly consequences. Secondhand smoke contains more than 4,000 substances. Many of them are dangerous poisons and can cause many diseases. Anyone exposed to secondhand smoke inhales these substances.
Also, secondhand smoke could be a problem too. A couple solutions to this problem are to stop the media promoting smoking and to educate teens about smoking and how it's bad for you. Cigarette smoking is the greatest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States. Secondhand smoke causes numerous lung cancer deaths annually. Measures have been taken in both workplaces and public places to limit exposure to secondhand smoke.
Other Contributing Factors Smoking Smoking causes vasoconstriction, leading to increase in blood pressure and damaged blood vessels. If have an existing hypertension, tobacco use can even worsen the condition. Better kick the habit NOW! Stress Anxiety and stress can temporarily raise your blood pressure. Science has not proven how stress causes HBP but some scientists believe that stress can affect a person’s behaviour towards health, decision-making and socioeconomic status.
