The public school system is often the first choice for parents considering that they may have received public education, so they in turn choose this option for their child’s educational needs. Children that attend public schools get a ton of social interaction, which is good for learning effective communicate with others. Teachers that teach in any school must have secondary education and must be state certified. Another pro about public schools is that they offer extracurricular activities such as sports, band, chorus, and cheerleading. Being involved in extracurricular activities helps students build their confidence and social skills, but also gives them a chance to do something that they enjoy besides academic classes.
People and things that help along your high school years are resources and allies. Resources and allies are found in organizations and extra-curricular activities in the form of friends, teachers and guidance counselors. Having good organization skills helps students keep track of their work and due dates. If the administration were to make more enthusiasm in the curriculum that would defeat most cases of students having trouble paying attention during class and falling behind on work. High school relationships can easily have a positive and negative effect on the success of students.
Personal Philosophy of School Leadership Personal Philosophy of School Leadership EDA-551 Amy Thompson Grand Canyon University April 16, 2015 Personal Philosophy of School Leadership I would define my leadership philosophy as a collaborative leader. The goal of a collaborative leader would be to take a strong approach to the responsibility that the district has given to you and to form a collaborative team that have a shared mission. The first step to having positive outcomes of collaborative leadership is to practice relationship management (Rubin 2002). Relationship management is essential in forming strong communication ties among the collaborative groups as well as establishing organization and structure. There are two types of collaboration styles that can be utilized by a school leader.
By basing its activities in a community centered environment, FLP gives freshmen an opportunity not many other organizations can give to their students, and that is the simple idea that putting together a strong group of minds can cultivate great ideas and have a huge influence on a school. Being part of FLP would allow me the opportunity to interact with peers and strive to make relationships that not only aids in my own personal growth, but also encourages those around me to grow together as well. In additionthere will be a local authority governor, appointed by the local authority (LA) and a local community served by the school governors will work closely with the Head Teacher and Senior Management Team, although you may not see them around the school often during the school day Governors wilol be based on different committeeswhich are responsible for various areas of school mamgement for example the school site, personnel issues or community cohesion. They will meet in these committeees and then report back to the full governing body. Their main duties are: to set aims and objectives for the school, to adopt new policies for achieving the aims and objectives, to set targets for achieving the aims and objectives Senior Management team. The school's Senior Mangement or Senior Leadership Team will work closely with the Head Teacher. The team will usually be made up of more experienced staff who have management positions:- in a promary school this will probably be the deputy head teacher, year group leaders (if the school has more than one form entry) SENCO(Special Education Needs Co-ordinator) and Foundation Stage leader.
The administration of my school work with the community partners to develop a climate that is welcoming to families and students. They acknowledge that our students have varying academic and nonacademic needs and try to connect students to supports that meet those needs. Support for family and community involvement begins with school administrators. Their willingness to recruit parents and community members for school tasks, to listen to other people's viewpoints, and to share decision making provides a necessary foundation for all school-family-community partnerships. Some students will have to lead a squad or a platoon of some sort requiring them to make decisions for the unit as one. Leadership goes hand-in-hand with confidence. So while teaching leadership this program also shows students how to be confident in themselves and their choices. JROTC involves a lot of student participation, allowing the student to lead, decide, and take responsibility for themselves. By showing motivation students’ progress into higher ranks in JROTC.
Through this program, teachers return to their school with more knowledge, determination, and commitment to change their students' lives. Freedom Writers Foundation Website, an article titled “About the Scholarship Program”, noted, “The Freedom Writers Foundation awards scholarships each year to first-generation high school seniors and college students who have demonstrated remarkable academic promise despite considerable odds.” This program supports students in many ways. By providing the students a scholarship, they continue to learn and they have a shot at becoming what they want. Students through this program also receive support to earn a degree from college. Erin has inspired many teachers, students, and everyday people through this foundation.
According to Gravell, (2012:18), the main role of the Teacher is to help learners achieve their chosen programme. Gravell went further to explain that this can be achieved by using various teaching and learning methods whilst taking into account learners individual needs. As a Team leader in the Princes Trust I will wear many hats: friend, judge, mentor, different roles for extracurricular duties. When I say mentor it means many things from a role model to coach to confidant, someone I believe who encourages positive behaviour this could be with the use of more responsibilities in the class room. Helping them improve the skills this could be through communication for example being able to understand situations and resolve differences which will build trust.
It not only provides more opportunities and options but also more academic potential. It also adds value when it comes to securing certain top positions. These values are given to you for working hard and achieving the status of a successful human being. Schools teach you good morals on how to do an effort, how to work hard, how to achieve things, how to become an adult, and how to work with others and get results. “The choices you make now, the people you surround yourself with, they all have the potential to affect your life, even who you are, forever” (Xplore).
