To get a higher education is perhaps crossing the biggest milestone of your life. A college education is a very valuable thing and everyone should get one, so that we can all be enlightened and help make our society a better place. A college is a place where people come together in an environment that helps nurture their educational curiosities. For example, a college student and a high school student have a lot of differences when it comes to doing stuff like work because a student from college can rationalize than a high school student.
What is College? College is a key to success in life. Why is college education such an important these days? In order to success in life with little or no struggles financially one has to go to college to get an education that will lead them later on to an Career of their choice. A two- or four- year college degree is becoming more and more important to unlocking doors to economic and educational opportunity in America today.
87% agreed that an Associate’s degree is the new high school diploma. It’s almost necessary in order to achieve the “American dream “(Morin, 2000). In conclusion, College has its advantages and benefits to achieving your ultimate goals in life for most people. The first reason is because a lot of people want a job that will pay very good money. By going to college, you will have the hands-on learning education you need to start your chosen career. This is a huge reason why a lot of careers require you to have at least a two or four year degree. Another reason why college matters is because it helps students boost their confidence level out in the real world. There are countless things that people have to do every single day in life so going college will help give you a better idea of what the definition of life really is.
The major consensus in society right now is that without a college education, you have nowhere to go in life. Scholars have argued that college is a vital part for one’s educational growth; they have also said that College allows meeting and networking with many like-minded people who are interested in the same things you are. In an essay by Mark Henrie titled Why Go to College, he responds to the question “what do first time freshman want from college?” he says that, “the great majority of young Americans go to college because they've been led to believe that having a college degree of some kind is a necessity if they're to have a prosperous career”. What Mark Henrie says in his essay is the absolute truth, because having a college degree is marketed to high school seniors and juniors as the only way to have a great career in life. Though college offers a valuable learning experience for most students, it is not necessary to students who are not entering career paths that require a great deal of higher education.
For me, it means so much more. An education encompasses a full knowledge and understanding of one’s self, what inspires them, motivates them and empowers one to seek what brings them happiness and closer to one’s goals and an overall purpose in life. During my own experiences in high school, the pressure to achieve a college education seemed endless and often overwhelming as there were others in high school who seemed to have it to have it all figured out. These ideas, notions and pressures for youth to graduate and become successful as I reflect was somewhat of a grave injustice to the individual needing something more, something centralize or differently structured academically to at least bring about the best results of continuing education beyond the 12th grade and create substance. The pursuit of educational value impacts individuals differently as it a personal journey and sometimes a personal struggle but as I matured I realize that society places high importance on earning degrees and being successful without always providing the effective foundations to do so.
Athletes and Education Many students have been in athletics while they are in high school or in college. Athletes are extra curricular in school but academics are the most important. When you go to college, they check more on your academic grades than athletics. For me, athlete students should have special treatment in high school or college for three reasons: to get better grades, get scholarship from college, and get a better job after college. First, the high school students should have special treatment.
A person with a college education could take a good job, and will often find better ones throughout life. When out of work, a college educated person will get any job more quickly than someone without college degree. Besides that, a person would go to college and study a specific area that they can go directly into. Also, if a person goes to college he/she would choose the better career by the money that is offered, if a person wanted more money, they will just choose a higher paying career path. If a person has a lot of knowledge and a good enough education, jobs will call them.
Personal Responsibility as it Relates to Student Success Amber Macalam GEN/200 May 13, 2014 James Lucas Personal Responsibility as it Relates to Student Success “If you think someone or something other than yourself is responsible for your happiness or success, I'd guess you're not that happy or successful,” (Liano, n.d.). Students who take responsibility for their own goals and commitments have the qualities and skills to achieve success in their life, both at home and in school. Practicing personal responsibility can also create core ethical characteristics that can be substantially beneficial to the success of a college student. This paper will explain how students, who are accountable to their goals and commitments in school, have the necessary skills and qualities to become successful. “Taking personal accountability is a beautiful thing because it gives us complete control of our destinies,” (Schuck, 2013, p.12).
The answer is that, more than ever a college education is necessary. Attending college provides opportunities for graduates which are not as widespread to those who have not received a higher education. we can learn from top educators and the level of understanding we receive is endless. The more
