Jake Mendala 10/17/2011 Post WW2 History Auschwitz 5 Point Essay The book Auschwitz, written by Dr. Miklos Nyiszli, takes place during the Nazi occupation of Hungry. Any “enemy” to the Third Reich was deported to one of their concentration camps. Dr. Nyiszli was one of the unlucky ones to be sent to the biggest concentration camp, or other known as death camps, of Auschwitz. There are five key points that the author makes clear through the first two thirds of the book. Dr. Nyiszli wanted to make it clear that the Nazis were willing to kill men, women, and children not only because there intense hatred for Jews but also for research that was conducted through dissecting the human corpses. Children were killed just for pure research. The main causes of death at Auschwitz were either the gas chambers, a lethal injection of chloroform, or a bullet to the back of the head. The unlucky ones were the ones that were not killed right away because they either died from starvation or fatigue. “Don’t save him, you’ll only be prolonging agony” (108). The Sonderkamandos were arguing about weather Dr. Nyiszli should give the new co-worker a shot that would bring him back from an otherwise fetal overdose of sleeping pills.…show more content…
If you were considered an enemy to the Third Reich you were put into a Cargo train and told that you were being brought to a camp to live. Once at the camp you would give them everything you own to be “inspected”. And indeed it was inspected, but none of it was every returned to you. After that there were two lines one was mainly people who had profession that the Nazis were in need of. The other line consisted of men, women, and children who were brought into a room where they were told to get undressed.
