The ethical view of abortion Does a mother have the right to take the life of her unborn child? Some may say that it is God’s will for that fetus to be born, and that the child is supposed to be born. This essay does not argue religious views, but ethical views. I will be using different views from an ethical standpoint to try to understand if abortion is morally good or bad. From a non-biblical standpoint, it is based on whether a woman finds it ethically right to terminate a pregnancy and what effect it would ultimately have on her happiness.
It is your right to believe in what you want, so is abortion good or bad? Abortion is the “termination of a pregnancy”. So for the anti abortionist this is considered slaughtering the baby. They believe that the fetus is actually a separate human life form. So if one has an abortion it is considered murder.
Warren beings her argument by acknowledging that abortion “…usually entails the death of a fetus. ( Social and Personal Ethics: The Moral Status Of Abortion, Marry Anne Warren, Page 109)” Shockingly enough, at least to many individuals, Warren still holds firm that safe abortion is both morally permissible and under no circumstance should be illegal. Warren recognizes that it is almost futile to argue with those who believe that abortion is equivalent to murder unless it is argued that fetuses to not have the same right to life as other human beings. She does this by
Everyone has their own opinion, which is generally based on the culture or religion they are familiar with. As stated on pewforum.org, “Currently, 57% say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, while 40% say it should be illegal in all or most cases.” There are several opinions regarding both sides of these statistics. According to abortion.procon.org, the people labeled as pro-choice insist that abortion allows pregnant women to choose not to deliver an infant who will suffer with extreme abnormalities. Pro-life supporters, on the other hand, point out that this is discrimination. A person with a life altering disability is no less human and should be treated equally.
General Purpose: To persuade Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to think twice before making the decision to take the life of an unborn child. Central Idea: Although convenient, abortions are cruel and inhumane alternatives to pregnancy. Introduction Abortion is one of the most controversial and important topics of our generation. The number of people that choose to have an abortion is a growing problem but it could be improved through awareness. I know that no one wants to have an unplanned pregnancy but what if one day you found yourself in that very situation.
Though factions take a major toll on decisions and actions of people through the issues, sometimes those actions pursued are not the most helpful or productive, but rather negative and destructive. Today, one example of competing factions is pro-life vs. pro-abortion. From a Christian standpoint, pro-life is the correct decision, but unfortunately pro-abortion is often chosen over the morally correct decision, by that I mean they kill the baby instead of giving it up for adoption or another alternative rather than death. The pro-life agenda exemplifies the right of the child and they do all that they can to protect that baby from a not so wonderful fate; the baby can feel pain by the time many wait to enter the abortion process. In which, this means that the baby does not die instantly, but dies with pain and suffering.
R.S REVISION- ABORTION Roman Catholic Church "Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception; abortion and infanticide are the most abominable of crimes." Second Vatican Council, Encyclical Gaudium et Spes Abortion is always wrong. Life begins at conception (or at the very least we cannot be certain that it doesn't), therefore abortion is murder. The unborn child is a sacred human life; it deserves the same respect as any other human being. Even in the case of rape, the RC Church does not support abortion - the foetus would be paying for someone else’s crime.
We deny the unborn child its right to live and experience the world. No one has thee right to take the life of another person, even an unborn child. Furthermore, abortion denies the mother the joy and opportunity to raise the baby, and in the long run, usually ends up hurting the mother as the emotional effects become worse and worse. This problem is even more common when there is pressure by others on the woman to have the abortion, and she does so reluctantly. Another reason why I do not believe abortions should be done is because of the many risks involved for the woman undergoing the abortion.
Now on the other side, the strongest argument is since life begins at conception, abortion is akin to murder as it is the act of taking human life. Abortion is a direct defiance of the commonly accepted idea of the sanctity of human life. This is a very strong argument because to take another human’s life is not right. It is a sin. The second strongest argument is that adoption is not an alternative to abortion.
Prine encourages the normalization of abortion. It is true that abortion is often criticized in society and is viewed as a “bad thing”, which is why women are often traumatized by it. Culture and morality could often be the reasons why abortion is demonized. The author forgets to mention how delicate this issue is, given that a person’s life is in danger, the fetus’ or the mother’s. doctors shouldn't treat abortion simply because each patient has a particular case; sometimes the fetus or embryo is a result of incest, rape, fetal defects or puts the mother’s health at risk.
