To their understanding an abortion is a killing of an innocent human being and this individual has a fundamental right to life, which needs to be protected (Abortion ProCon.org.). Pro-Life supporters believe that fetuses can feel pain during the abortion procedure, which is inhuman. They also believe that with abortion being legal women would use it as a form of contraception. These supporters believe that the legalization of abortion sends a message that human life has little value (Abortion ProCon.org.). These were just some reasons that Pro-Life supporters fight for abortion to be
The ones that don’t feel like they would be able to look at the result of their rape. By making abortion illegal these women wouldn’t have a choice. They would be reminded of their rape their whole life. I don’t believe that it is fair to have someone go through all that
It directly opposes human rights. Abortion should not be used as a matter of contraceptive either. It can have harmful effects on the mother later in life and can leave damage to the body. It can cause a woman to have other complications during pregnancies later in life. In addition to that there are studies that prove that breast cancer is heightened in women who had an abortion earlier in life.
Erin Gerstner Mr. Skaer English 101 Nov 13, 2014 Argument Essay – Final Draft Abortion Two words that could make or break any women, “You’re pregnant.” Some women may be excited to hear these words, but others, well they may be terrified. Our world today is full of unsolved, divisive and controversial issues. Most of them relate to our morals, ethics and religion, thus creating a very strong yes, no, good or bad side. Abortion is one subject most people feel negatively about. It’s immoral, all conclusions made about abortion are negative, and they all show the downside, abortion should be banned.
Abortion- A Woman’s Divine Right Tameka A. Severson SOC 120 Introduction to Ethics & Social Responsibility Instructor: Theodore Framan April 16, 2012 The topic of abortion is one of the most controversial of our times. The fight between pro-life and pro-choice supporters has been long and brutal. This is because individuals can be a bit “close minded” and refuse to view any other beliefs or ideas other than their own. Although I support the act of abortion, when it all boils down, it is a right and the circumstance at hand really depends on the particular individual. Abortion is defined as the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to viability.
Pro-Choice or Pro-Life Abortion is a very controversial subject that many avoid because it has so many opinions when it is the topic of conversation. According to the Encyclopedia Americana, abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by loss or destruction of a fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus before birth. Even though many people believe that the destruction of a human being is considered murder, all women should have the right to choose to plan their own fertility. Abortion has been legal in the United States since 1973 and there are valid reasons to terminate a pregnancy such as a result of being raped or molested and for the health of the mother. In 1969, a woman named Norma L. McCorvey became pregnant.
One of the most ethical controversial issues being debated now in United States is whether late- term abortion should be banned or not. Most people argued that it is proper to ban late-term abortion. They believe that it is un-ethical and a murder of an unborn child not a right of freedom of choice. It is an immoral act and violates the social and religious norms. On the other hand some people argued that late-term abortion should not be banned because it is necessary to terminate a fetus when the life of the woman is in danger as a result of complicated pregnancy; or when pregnancy result from incest or rape and the woman may be late in finding out that she is pregnant.
My World View Abortion is a topic that has been debated for centuries. Many people believe that it is a woman’s prerogative to terminate her pregnancy. These people also say that it is a violation of her rights to take that option away. Others argue that a fetus is a defenseless being that deserves a chance to live. Attacking an individual who has no means to defend them self is wrong, which is why I strongly oppose abortion.
This analogy however, is only applicable in the case of a pregnancy due to rape and is otherwise a disanalogy. Secondly, I will present Don Marquis’ “future likes ours” argument. Marquis argues that abortion deprives a foetus of future experiences is akin to a pre-mature human being’s death. For Marquis, abortion is just as wrong as murdering a human being. Marquis states that “The future of a standard foetus includes a set of experiences, projects, activities, and such which are identical with the futures of adult human beings and are identical with the futures of young children.” Marquis further adds that “it is wrong to kill human beings after the time of birth is a reason that also applies to foetuses, it follows that abortion is prima facie morally wrong.” Marquis remarks that killing deprives humans and foetuses the value of their future.
Abortion (Pro-Choice vs. Pro-Life) The right for a woman to choose whether or not to abort a pregnancy is one of the controversial issues in the United States. Pro-life are the people who believe that it is the government’s rights and responsibility to care for all life regardless of all the concerns in the health of the pregnant woman or what kind of life would the child have. Pro-choice are those people who argue and believe that a woman should have the right to decide and make a choice on what she wishes to do when it comes to their own body, as long as it does not harm others with their decision. My standpoint about abortion is that I definitely feel that it is a woman’s right to decide if she is going to do abortion and as long as she has a valid reason to abort a child. The reason why it is important for a woman to make a choice is because a lack of choice could and may lead to medical and health problems for the mother and the child, and a poor environment for the child to grow with.
