Justification: By reading the exact doctrines handed to early colonial, students can read and interpret for themselves the interweaving of both political and religious ideas. For example, “Thou shalt grant the King a long life: he shall dwell before God forever (4). The Church of England was a part of the government, which many colonists were fleeing. There are prayers also laid out for the sole purpose of exalting the King of England. It is also important to note that this prayer book was published a mere 20 years before independence.
! Starting off in chapter one, the author talks about how all pastors, teachers, missionaries, and evangelist should teach God’s truth. For centuries people have been asking, “What is truth?” As we see in the Bible, the Lord says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Right there is a clear statement of what truth is. Also in this chapter he explains that the integration of faith and learning is a difficult process that exists between the external and internal and it primarily deals with the union between the administration, subject matter and its staff. He uses an example of astronomy to make his point.
Another thing to note is how most of these families were comprised of very young people. When people came to the New England colonies, they had to swear to following the practice of Christianity (OI) which shows that these families were religious. John Winthrop wrote “A model of Christian Charity” on the ship that took him to New England. In his writing, he states, “We must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us...” (Document A).
Then he added new laws to make sure that everyone was protected by the laws. This set of laws was called the Justinian Code. It was so well written that it became the basis of laws for many countries throughout the world. Emperor Justininan's reign affected the world. Justinian had a passion for the arts and for religion.
It is the teaching that takes these events, stories, myths and presents them to the followers in a way that allows them to understand and whole heartedly believe in. Because not every religion has writings from the inception of the religion, it is necessary for these teachers to pass down this information and knowledge verbally whether one on one or in a group setting. This makes the experience more intimate and allows the ideals being passed down to go from myth or story to reality. Most if not every religion today uses books, scrolls or writings of some sort to document the present and to teach the past, means that the texts used in the religion are incredibly important. Right and wrong, good and evil are something people learn by living, but more specifically are introduced when with religion. Religion is something that is normally introduced at a very young age and is something someone either chooses to reject or embrace as they become older. For those who choose to embrace it, religion becomes a basis for choices made on a daily basis. There are consequences for certain choices that are made and religion sets the standard for these consequences, both on Earth and in Heaven.
Appreciate the Importance of Study People must be motivated before they will study a subject. Christians have all the reasons they could possibly need to study the Bible. Consider a few. As you do, note the emphasis on regular, frequent study. #1: Study so you can obey God and grow in His service.
Throughout history religion is what governed countries, brought people together, and gave morals and rules for everyday life. People abided by the rules of the church and followed exactly what priest and other religious leaders said to do. The vast majority of people in earlier times had a religion and believed in god. People who were thought to be condemned to hell were to be separated from those who were pure. Their whole world was controlled by religion, and their daily lives revolved around it.
These needs are displayed through their, “continuing interests in morals and ethnic concerns, and questioning concerning the quest for truth and meaning in life,” (21). The students who attend public schools consider religion nothing more than a topic to argue about. As one of the students, Enio said, “Who really cares anyway? My way of looking at things is that people can believe whatever they want,” (25). In order to improve the religious dimensions of Catholic schools students should be given the experience of other religious perspectives aside from their own.
