Verbal and Non-Verba Communication

Always remember that actions speak louder than words. With verbal and nonverbal communication you can speak to a person without using words. Although when you are speaking, your body language might be saying something completely different. Behind both verbal and nonverbal there are principles to follow when either communication is being performed. -“Communication - the human connection – is the key to personal and career success” (Paul J. Meyer, Brainy Quotes 2013). Verbal Communication At any time a person is planning on communicating verbally, there are a few principles that he / she should take into consideration. First, is to think that not everyone has the same pronunciation, vocabulary, or even accent. Second, is to remember that not all vocabulary means the same thing. For example, take the word “pee cola”, in Ghana, this means “very good cola”, but in the United States, these two words would never go together as a title of a soda. Third, remember that regardless of the language, all of them are equal; no language is better than the other. Fourth, if something is suggested, then follow it out or maybe look into it. Finally, is to acknowledge or even recognize that not all cultures are the same on how some words are spoken. When anyone is verbally communicating, he / she needs to try and stay positive in any situation. In verbal communication, I feel that the best three principles that are most critical for effective communication is to remember that not all languages have the same pronunciation, vocabulary, or even accent. The third principle of knowing that all of the languages are equal and not one is better than the other. The last principle that to acknowledge or even recognize that not all cultures are the same on how the words are spoken.
